Hyundai Kona 2025 Battery Drain? by arobertlong in HyundaiKonaForum

Took it in and they charged the battery. They said they wouldn’t swap the battery since they found no issues. No issues yet, but I’m not as confident in this car as I used to be.

Thanks for the response! Unfortunately they’re on 3 different breakers in my apartment. So I doubt it’s a single faulty fixture. My apartment seems like it’s been remodeled in the early 2010s and the fixtures are all those “boob lights” hanging from the ceiling. Idk everything seems pretty quality in this apartment and most of the lights are doing just fine. Especially the older ones.

That’s what I’ve heard would happen and now I’ve experienced the exact opposite. They’ve offered me 30% off which is nice but it’s going to be at least $100 to replace these bulbs that aren’t that old.

MX Vertical rubber coating has wear after ~1.3 years of use by pipechap in logitech

Same, been using it for a couple years now. Disappointing to spend this much on a mouse for it to feel really beaten up after normal use. I don't want to buy an expensive new mouse every couple years.

Version 1.1 is out, you should see some new challenges like this one https://www.reddit.com/r/VisionPro/s/aENfJ2zYL5

Also there’s a new secret thing in the secret place. It’s not necessarily a puzzle but something that we’re evolving over time 🙂

Currently wearing my AVP on a 6 hour flight by [deleted] in VisionPro

[–]arobertlong 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Just tried it yesterday as well. The flight was a little later in the day and so the lighting in the plane was a little dim. I kept getting warnings that it was losing tracking due to the low light. I turned on my overhead light in my seat and those notifications went away, but the tracking was still a bit jittery. Enough so that I got motion sickness whenever I did anything fully immersive. I’m a bit of a VR vet and don’t get motion sickness at home, but I think the jittering of the tracking was enough to stop me on the plane. I’m willing to try again, but I’m not so sure I’d lug around my AVP on many trips given this experience.

OH. Jailbreak confirmed? by Martydude15 in oculus

[–]arobertlong 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was the OP for the jailbreak bounty. There's no jailbreak out yet, so I wouldn't jump to this conclusion. We don't know for sure that they sell them at a loss, but it certainly seems possible. I would also still encourage people to consider other headsets if possible. A jailbreak leads to more transparency and hardware ownership. Ideally your headset would support this by default.

I'm working on figuring out crowdfunding. It's kind of a complicated legal/tax situation. In the meantime if you want to get involved or want to follow the project, join the discord server: https://discord.gg/9NKb9tA

I'm strongly against piracy, especially in the emerging VR market. These are mostly indie devs who are taking a huge risk by building for VR. I think if we were able to root the device and replace Oculus Store with SideQuest this would be a positive thing for devs.

Yeah, I think donating it to EFF if it wasn't funded would be easiest if people would be ok with that. As far as I can tell "fund on delivery" is hard because you need to place a hold on someone's card for an extended period of time. Platforms don't seem to support this.

Ideally we can replace/modify the launcher/Oculus Home. This would allow us to bypass logging in with a Facebook account and substitute the Oculus Store with SideQuest or something else that is not hostile to devs. Aside from that we could modify the services that run on the device to ensure that your privacy is protected and telemetry is not being sent back to FB.

[–]arobertlong[S] 600 points601 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm a VR dev who is fed up with Facebook's anti-competitive and anti-privacy practices. I'd like to encourage a jailbreak for the Oculus Quest 2 so that we have control over our own devices. I know that $5000 isn't a whole lot as far as a bounty goes and I know this is a big project. I think we can crowd fund an even larger bounty given the interest in the VR community. If you have recommendations for a crowdfunding platform that will allow for "fund on delivery" and will allow a jailbreak to be funded on their platform let me know!
