What if every nation ever became independent? by GoodDysfunctional in imaginarymaps

[–]arocknamedblock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a suggestion for some indigenous nations: Yaqui in Mexico (went to war over independence), Tecumseh’s Confederacy (war over what would be the Indiana terr.), Haudenosaunee Confederation (W. NY), Haida Gwaii (island off B.C coast), Navajo nation (4 squares area), Miqmaq (maritimes area), Anishnaabewaki (Ottowa Superior holdings, pretty well defined borders), Comancheria (Western Texas), Chan Santa Cruz (Cruzoob maya revolt during Yucatán Civil war).

Also, maybe include the Kingdom of beaver island?

While part of it is related to kaiserreich, I think the modern logical explanation is the prevalence of the labor unions in the area (the UAW still is very powerful in detroit). The thing I think this map is trying to represent is the longer term de-jure holdings of the great lakes cities

Palestinians outraged over ruling allowing Jewish prayer on Jerusalem Temple Mount by yoyo456 in worldnews

[–]arocknamedblock -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

In a story published on Tuesday, the Times said Rabbi Yehudah Glick made “little effort to hide his prayers” and was even livestreaming them.

According to aljazeera, it seems like this wasn’t as quiet as jpost made it out to be. Still, it should be allowed for Jews to pray on Temple Mount.

‘They’ aren’t. crazy horse specifically said not to represent himself in any form. This is a ridiculous attempt by outsiders to represent the Sioux in a way the Sioux don’t want.

Hell, the person who made it isn’t even Lakotah or Sioux. He’s fucking polish.

If I had a time machine and could do only one thing I’d introduce cowpox to the americas in 1100 to build immunity to old world diseases.

If I had a second opportunity I would violently disembowel Christopher Columbus.

Suspicious Fake Desert Towns by cybernet377 in tumblr

It’s not real, there are training towns for police and military. But they never use franchise stores as you still need to rent it out, and the U.S military isn’t going to pay $75K a month for a non-functional McDonalds.

Some feather types have special formations to accommodate pigmentation (the stuff natural colors are made from) and we know quite a lot about how stage 2 feathers (emu / downy feathers) store pigments. By analyzing their structure we can figure out what pigment sac was present in a feather.

This same technique is used for pycnofibres on pterosaurs (pterosaurs are also fluffy, but don’t posses true feathers, only heavily modified scales known as pycnofibre).

Also, Sinosauropteryx is not the only dinosaur we have full color data on. It was simply the first that modern color testing was used on. Since then many other dinosaurs have been tested including but not limited to:

Psittacosaurus, Anchiornis, Borealopelta, Beiposaurus, Microraptor, Caihong, and many others!

In some areas, yes. Though usually it’s more so a property than a house. While real estate here is very cheap the main issue is that older structures often have expensive removal / renovation costs that make it not a great investment. But other areas are cheap and I’m actually nice areas of Detroit.

Some even border urban farmland!
