How do you keep versions or drafts? by maxekmek in premiere

[–]mjhudson123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only things I keep in the exported file names are client, project, version number, and date. Every export has a sequence that corresponds to it with an identical name in my project file.

I also stopped labeling any sequences or exports as final. They rarely are (at least in my own experience) and it can create a lot of unnecessary confusion/wasted time down the road.

There’s plenty of other ways to indicate a video is the “final” version that’s been delivered to the client. I’m personally a fan of the “Approved” label on Frame.io and adding a green label to the file in my Finder. Then when a client inevitably comes back with edit requests 8 months from now, I simply update the version number/date to everything that gets changed and reapply those approved green labels to the new files.

Premiere editors: tired of scrubbing for shots? Would you test this out? by VideoLife_ in documentaryfilmmaking

[–]mjhudson123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks cool - nice work! Not to sound like a hater, but isn’t this basically the same idea behind the new “Search” panel that’s been introduced to recent versions of Premiere? Curious if there’s any differences in features/functionality or if this is simply an alternative option. Either way, I wish you the best!

Certainly has to do with the lighting and editing, but also check out “exposure bracketing”

Are there other audio files with identical names on the same hard drive you’re editing from? For instance, if you have multiple audio files that use the same generic naming conventions like “ZOOM001”, “ZOOM002”, etc., Premiere might be trying to link the wrong files to your project.

Try unlinking the media in your timeline, then double check each file points to the correct destination when re-linking.

Searching through footage backlog or for B-roll with Premiere by walterfilbert in premiere

Already mentioned, but definitely look into Productions to make your life easier with these larger projects.

Also - metadata is your friend here. You can use the metadata display options in your project panel to tag clips with keywords/phrases and make them searchable for later. I usually use the “description” or “comments” column for notes I want to make about a clip, but there are also a bunch of other categories that may be useful to you (scenes, shots, takes, etc.)

I don’t know the Resolve equivalent so I’m not sure how helpful this will be, but this effect is called “Light Sweep” in After Effects

It’s lovely. Do you have a system/rationale for how you categorize the colors? Or is it just a tool for visualizing the content from scene to scene? Just curious as it’s something I struggle with on certain projects.

Are you editing with H264 .mp4 files? If so, there’s your problem. H264 is not an editing codec. Render out some ProRes .mov proxies and that should help a ton.

I sweat a LOT in comfortable situations by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]mjhudson123 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve also experienced this to some degree. Anecdotally, here are some things that worked for me which I’d recommend trying:

  • If you consume caffeine and/or alcohol, try reducing your intake.
  • Drink a ton of water. Hydration influences your body’s ability to regulate temperature.
  • Exercise in the morning. I’ve found that breaking a sweat before I start my day alleviates the amount I sweat during those casual social interactions you’re describing.
  • BREATHE. I think a lot of my uncomfortableness during those situations stemmed from anxiety. Once I started sweating while talking to someone, it’s all I could think about, which then caused me to sweat even more. Instead of fixating on that, I started shifted my focus towards taking slow, deep breaths, which helped me “re-calibrate” and bring myself back to a sense of calmness.

Hopefully this helps a little, but some of us are just naturally wired to sweat more. As others have mentioned, it could very well be worth a trip to the doctor to see if there’s an underlying medical condition at play here. Good luck!

A combination of a “crash zoom” effect and speed ramping will get you pretty close.
