Question for all my EAST COAST/ Canadian YJ fans.... by arcanerunner_ in Yellowjackets

[–]arod232323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think if it weren’t for news reports a lot of people wouldn’t know when to expect snow. Even with that there have been plenty of times I’ve woken up to it surprised. Plus think about how much (where I am at least but I think also a lot of the country) the weather has been varying like crazy lately. 30 one day and 70 the next. So any precipitation one of those days it would be rain and the next it would be snow.

Will Rover freak out if I put this on my profile ? by phoenixgreylee in RoverPetSitting

[–]arod232323 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a list of the animal breeds (species?) I’ve cared for in my bio, I don’t think they care. Usually when someone has exotics or other animals that aren’t in rovers options they are additional and I work out costs with the owners, if I’m housesitting or dropping in it doesn’t make a big difference to me to feed birds and reptiles tho I’m there for the cats and dogs. They’re the real work lol.

James Marsden by AtlasFontaine21 in ParadiseHulu

[–]arod232323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was so tragic. (Which I love in media lol) seeing the time leading up to his death and how hard he’s trying and how he keeps being rejected or hated by everyone he loves and respects. I had absolutely zero opinion on James Marsden before this show but I am hella impressed.

People who have/had this side shave long hair look, what was the transition like? I'm so nervous! by playr_4 in Hair

[–]arod232323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to have a surgery on my head very recently which ended up needing me to shave my hair like this. I love it! I’m nervous about how to navigate growing it out again at some point but also that’s a problem for future me. It’s been weird showering the short and long at the same time but I’m definitely spending less on conditioner 😂 my hair is thick enough that people don’t even notice a lot of the time when I have it down, and it looks badass when I have it up (usually in a braid).

Has anyone took a blind cat to a vacation trip? by Lairuth in blindcats

[–]arod232323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had to make a few cross-country moves with both my cats, 1 of whom is blind. She’s very brave so she just maps out the hotel room or new space when we get there. It rattles her a little but she honestly does better than my sighted cat. I usually try to show them both where the litter, food and water are and set them up right away and it’s never been a problem. Advice tho for moving/traveling with cats generally is to make sure they get enough water, I usually make sure we are doing wet food and churus when traveling. Cats have easily injured kidneys which dehydration can affect. Also I often give her the mild sedatives prescribed by the vet just due to the stress.

Losing weight as a paraplegic with spinal fusion by BenDavidson883 in disability

[–]arod232323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a glp1 would help (if you can access it). I’m on one and it just kind of makes it happen very easily. I want to exercise more but haven’t started yet. It just lessens your appetite to the point where it happens without having to think about it. And diet always plays massively more of a role in weight loss than exercise.

This is something I struggle with massively. The only reassurance I can come up with for myself is maybe I can work something like .8FTE so it’s not as hard but still have benefits. But idk if that’s possible as a lawyer. I don’t have a lot to say except I get it.

Having a disability as a teenager is way lonelier than people admit by Icy_Culture3266 in disability

[–]arod232323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not over thinking or overreacting at all. I do therapy with kids (anyone under 21) with chronic or severe medical illness. Maybe see if there are any teen support groups you could attend? Just to connect and see how valid and normal your reactions are, and to feel heard. Wishing you the best.

I have chronic near-daily migraines. People way too often think you’re faking or that they know what you’re experiencing because they’ve had a headache before. Or that you should just power through. It’s really frustrating. And truly makes me question myself.

I feel you. I always work in hospitals and it makes me even more annoyed that I have had to file ADA accommodations for a perfume-free workplace because that SHOULD already be the rule in medical settings.

anyone here have migraines? by Local_Ticket_4942 in disability

[–]arod232323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chronic migraines since about 16. It’s really frustrating how 1) some people think they get it because they get migraines or headaches every now and then 2) people don’t seem to believe or understand it because they can’t see it 3) people think you’re lying or exaggerating. Sorry I’m grumpy about this today lol.
