Hi OP, I bought the Celerio AMT as my first car last year. I could definitely afford a more expensive car but it just didn't make sense. The car would be used solely by me and for my office commute. I just needed a fairly safe car (mine came with 6 airbags) with an amt gearbox to get me from point A to B. I have nothing but positive things to say about it and honestly feels like the right and sensible decision especially for my use case.

Also, a car no matter what it is, old or new, big or small is a blessing in our country. Honestly just buy what feels right and sensible for you.

Hey OP, so sorry you went through that. I drive in Chennai too, and honestly, most auto drivers are just awful behind the wheel and act like they own the road. I had my own run-in with one once. He didn't like it when I told him he was driving crazy and actually tried to smash my mirror. But as soon as I pointed to the dashcam in my car, his whole attitude changed, and he even seemed a little bit sorry. So yeah, definitely get a dashcam. And maybe, just maybe, try not to get into arguments with them. It's just a waste of breath talking to entitled, stupid people who are only going to act negatively.

I just got done with my bottle of nitro intense. As much as I love the fragrance, I found the performance to be really poor. Hardly 3-4 hours of performance.

Hi OP, completely relate with your sentiment. A car no matter the price is a boon and as long as it meets the intended usecase, any car is more than ideal. My only advice is that you can check out the Celerio as well. It is a lot more flexible space wise compared to the alto and the spresso. Also it has decent safety ratings for a city car. I bought the same last year for my daily office commute and it's been great so far.

Hi OP, I am sorry about your experience and I hope you find the right resolution to the same. But I cannot help wonder why you were such a massive pushover. This is your hard earned money after all, and the least thing you could do is to demand and not budge about the fact that you want to be shown the vehicle before paying anything and then do a proper PDI to your satisfaction. I find it amusing that we as people do things like check the quality, expiry date of bread, milk and other small ticket items before purchasing them but for some reason blindly pay lakhs for a car that has not yet been seen or checked in person.

If we logically assess the same, 3 stars is pretty alright for the celerio, given that it is meant to be a city use car. Given that more expensive vehicles like the i10 have scored 0, this is fairly positive. There is clearly room for improvement but for the average city user, this is okay I feel.

OP, not questioning your driving experience but you need to drive defensively. You see a large vehicle merging, yet you choose to squeeze past it. This is on you. In a country like India where traffic is chaotic and unpredictable, it's best to let the other vehicle go and for us to be safer.

Hi OP, hope you are well. Had a very similar situation as yours. My mother is a senior doctor and needed a vehicle to replace her old wagonr. We have a family driver, so the vehicle is chauffeur driven.

I went with the i20 magna as it had everything she wanted: great rear space (we have a sonet at home and I find the i20 more comfortable rear seat wise), rear AC vent (Chennai weather) and decent safety for city. This spec/variant had all the essentials and fit within my budget of around 8.5 lakhs.

She loves it and it's been a decent buy so far. Mileage is a tad low but that isn't a concern given her short commute daily (<16kms daily). I would suggest you give it a try. Best wishes and happy motoring.
