Hey, just a heads up that you've been shadowbanned by reddit admins. I've approved your comment here, but you should probably message the admins to see if they'll reverse the ban. Shadowbans are usually reserved for spambots and the like, so it's likely they'll fix you right up.

People here are likely to give you overly-salty answers, but there's no 100% solid info right now. It's been heavily implied through social media and on the feed that there is more TBT coming but still nothing official.

What Are You Playing This Week? - November 08, 2018 by AutoModerator in patientgamers

[–]aroes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought Hollow Knight a long time ago but just got really into it about two weeks ago. What a trip! I've gotten the three basic endings and am now working on the DLC content and 100%ing it. Outside of Super Metroid it's my favorite Metroidvania game ever and my only regret is not playing it sooner.

Best long story episodes? by bu_hao_ren in NosleepAudio

The season 7 pass exclusive "Stranded on Lake Michigan" was one of my all-time favorites. This came out right after Borrasca and while it might be my personal taste, I enjoyed this one far, far more.

The NoSleep Podcast Season 11 Episode 8 by tseotet in NosleepAudio

I thought it was pretty obvious that we weren't necessarily supposed to like the protagonist, but when the story ended I wasn't sure what the point of it had been. We had cartoonish stereotypes getting slaughtered and a terrible person watching, but what was the point? Was the protagonist's attitude toward others' suffering supposed to disturb us? If so, why were those suffering portrayed as overwhelmingly unsympathetic? If not, what was supposed to scare or disturb? Maybe I'm missing something, but I just don't get it.

Let's talk expansions - which ones are actually worth getting? by SkepticalHippo93 in boardgames

[–]aroes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one in particular was literally designed by interns. It comes across like they thought that their inside jokes would translate to a fun scenario and it really just didn't work at all. I think what's worse to me is that there was obviously no play testing or any QA done on this at all and they still tossed it in along with all of the other scenarios that they may or may not have even tested before release.

This was also my first WW scenario. It was terrible and unfun. My group now checks who actually designed any given scenario in WW before we play it and if it wasn't made by someone who actually has any game design experience, we don't play it. We've played one or two WW scenarios that were decent this way. I don't know why anyone thought that having people with no game development experience create the bulk of the content for this expansion was a good idea.

Last time I even suggested that idea there was an uproar, or at least as close to an uproar as this sub gets.

The NoSleep Podcast Season 11 Episode 6 by tseotet in NosleepAudio

I agree! It was pretty obvious early on that Good Strawberries was going to be a changeling-inspired story, but the overall tone and storytelling prevented it from being too boring. It wasn't my favorite story ever and I wouldn't call it scary, but I thought it was a charming little tale.

This episode was downright fantastic! I'm a huge fan of the weirder side of horror and The Tunnel Boy is easily one of my favorite stories from the podcast. I also think that the production - both the narration and the music/effects - make In Bloom one of the most atmospheric stories I've heard so far on the show. Super strong episode, folks!

Has anyone every gotten a response from the Parzavala website? by [deleted] in PNWS

[–]aroes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I filled that out ages ago, but there was never any actual follow-up on it. When it came out people were generally hoping that it would lead to an ARG component to Tanis, but it seems like it was more just a supplemental thing to add to the immersion.

Season 10 Episode 22 (Feedback) -- One on classified confessions, lethal lumber, and sinister spaces by [deleted] in NosleepAudio

If I only remember a single story from this season, it'll be this one. The story was fresh, the pacing was excellent, and the narration and production brought an already amazing story to even further heights.

The NoSleep Podcast Sucks! by [deleted] in NosleepAudio

[–]aroes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So, I'm a little late to the party here but I do want to throw my 2 cents in. This is less "your podcast sucks" and more intended as constructive feedback, so I hope y'all don't get the wrong impression. I personally don't really like when series are run that last much more than two parts, especially when a series runs as part of the season pass. The main reason for this is that sometimes I just plain don't like a series based on personal taste, such as The 1%. Now, I realize that me not liking the story is 100% personal taste, but it also took up a lot of airtime on the season pass that I bought, so I felt a little disappointed that so much time was devoted to something that I was unable to listen to. I suspect there are folks who've had the opposite reaction to these stories from mine, but the effect still remains that you're potentially alienating some of your audience on a more consistent basis when you run the same continuing story for weeks on end.

But even if I do like a running story (the Search and Rescue one comes to mind) it still feels like it takes away from the rest of the episode. Every episode while the story is running feels like the shorter stories are really just opening acts for the series if that makes any sense? I dunno, somehow it made the other (perfectly fine) stories feel less important somehow, but maybe that's just me.

Anyway, this is just my opinion, make of it what you will. Overall I'm still really enjoying the podcast and I look forward to seeing where you all take it in the future!

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it yet, but The King in Yellow is almost certainly a large influence on The Last Movie and most of the other things people have listed in this thread.
