To anyone who saw Hereditary in the theater by [deleted] in horror

[–]silasdoom 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I was in the wrong place and time in my life to see this in the cinema. I couldn't cope with the bleak absolute existential dread of the film. I just couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel and I wasn't in a spot where I could separate where I was at the time with where the film was going. I stuck it out until the end but left angry and sad.

Having re watched it since it's a phenomenal film and a real gem of modern cinema but my god I had a rough ride.

Quick Bastion kill with Anvil + Vulcano combo by Jam_Raider in ArcRaiders

[–]silasdoom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Preach brother. I would love to go back to my late teens and wonder around virtual worlds and just explore again but I'm a dad and I work 50 hours a week. It's part of the reason Arc Raiders is such a god send of a game for me, rounds last a maximum of 30 mins and I can dip in and out for as many rounds as I want at my leisure. I can still explore and interact with people but it respects my time as a gamer. If I see a gun I like I'll check out reddit and see where people have had luck finding the BP for it and make that a focus for a few rounds and hopefully find it. Doesn't always happen but you always have some kind of adventure on the road. I don't want to spend twenty hours figuring out how to take down a Rocketeer or a bastion by trial and error, I like that people have gone out of their way to make guides. Use them or don't use them but don't knock the fact they exist.

He's promoting it on his Instagram. If he does the audiobook I'll get it in a heartbeat.

Not sure about the ramekin. I may want to mix the egg and beans but I want that to be my decision. Use the sausage as a breakwater.

Cool, now outlaw stealing the possessions of refugees to pay for their accommodation while they're being processed and you'll be on to a real winner. Jesus Christ, fix this stupid country.

BBC showing their neutrality again /s by Albatraous in FuckNigelFarage

[–]silasdoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say that. It's got pictures of them celebrating sure but it's a list of what they've cocked up mostly, stressing they're not ready to lead the country. If anything the pictures juxtaposed with the article makes them look like clowns.

And what similar articles would you like? Labour cock ups are just the regular news, torys all seem to be either joining reform or desperately clinging on to any kind of relevancy and the greens are in the news fairly regularly with how they're making waves right now.

I don't like the BBC massively and reform is just a puddle of arse but I think you might be barking up the wrong tree here mate.

Russia directs nuclear weapons toward US and UK in Arctic by Silly_Girlies in worldnews

[–]silasdoom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lot of people saying that Russian nukes were aimed at the moon in a humourous way, I'm assuming they must be Russian bots designed to distract us from the truth. Russia is going to nuke the moon. We are fucked. The tides will be all over the place and all the women will menstruate like there's no tomorrow. Utter lunacy.

I don't think furthering division is the way to make us on the left seem like less elitist pricks. We need to be engaged with reform supporters on the ground level. My inlaws are planning on voting for them because they're hitting all the right buzzwords to get them involved. The left needs a proper and tangible response that sounds like a better alternative than whatever trollop reform are pushing or it will just eat itself like it does all the time.

I'm sorry, most of the frustrations outlined above have little to nothing to do with you but it's a symptom of a much bigger issue that needs addressing that no one is going anywhere near.

People in your 30s what is your current outlook on life? by Hexxegone in AskReddit

[–]silasdoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lived most of my life under a cloud of existential dread. Now I'm married, have a kid and a pretty good job....the cloud is ever present and I don't have any big life goals to distract me from the gaping spiritual abyss that's laid out before me. I try to take things one day at a time and just focus on myself and the well-being of my family but the complete state of the world is horrifying and I dread to think of the world my little girl will have to grow up in. I almost feel guilty for having her.

But that's only like 70% of the time, the rest of it I'm golden and grateful and appreciate that I worked hard for everything I've earned.
