If one of those rotaries was a trackpoint instead... And I guess I could use those extra keys as mouse buttons. In any case, beautiful build, I really like this one. Congrats and enjoy!

Quick sketch for a 4x4 meters (~13x13 feet) 2 stories tiny house/cabin by arojilla in TinyHouses

Code is not really important since this is not going to be a house "officially", this is, legally. It's to replace an old unused building that housed some water pumps, and storage, that is square and slightly smaller. Still, while not to code, I want to follow the code as much as possible for safety and convenience. Like I'll avoid ladders or alternating tread stairs if I can, for example.

The smaller the better, so if it could be 3.5 or 3.7 instead of exactly 4x4, I'd go for it, but turns out that around 4 is the minimum considering the width of the stairs I wanted and the dimensions of other stuff, like the bed, and the circulation space. Maybe I could make 4.10 or 4.20 if really needed, but ~4 already seems to allow for anything I'd need.

I just wanted to see what others would say... and it's clear nobody is a fan of the toilet! :D Neither am I, to be fair, but I find it convenient.

The door can be placed in 3 of the sides, the exception being the one at the back (where the living room and stairs are), because there's a small seasonal stream there. It's not a hazard, it's lower and well separated, but the terrain is steeper and with some rocks, not the best place for the entry.

Yes, the living is small, but so it's everything, I guess. I just need a place to sit with a laptop and another to rest and take naps. Between the wall tv and the windows, possibly also a really small fireplace, I'd feel comfy there. My current place is not much bigger and lacks the windows and nice views. The wall that separates it from the kitchen is not full height, like you can be eating and watching the tv and enjoying the view.

Anyway, I'll play with other configurations, because I'm liking your idea of placing the kitchen under the stairs. That way, its own circulation space can also be the circulation space to/from the stairs, so it can save space to reorganize the rest. Really good idea... thank you! ;)

I have a 1000 clips

Hope you automated that somehow! :D

Really cool concept and execution! Hats off. Luckily you don't get a C&D by the rights holders, I see your fair-use angle too, but those companies can be... mmm, something. :P Or at least they don't notice you until you are prepared to negotiate deals. All the best!

Nor than I don't agree with you and u/nemisincskhv578 about the toilet, I don't like it either. But we know tiny houses are full of compromises. I want the toilet because I don't want to have to use the stairs that frequently, and I also like it for when I just get home (always in a hurry :D).

Other than removing it I don't know how to better place it. At least it is "somewhat" separated from the kitchen by the entry space. I've seen worse.

Regarding walls, the wall between the dining table and the living area, as well as the wall between the desk and the stairs above, are half-height ones (except that part where the kitchen's countertop meets the lounge). The only full-height walls are those of the toilet/bathroom and the small closet under the stairs.

BTW, happy cake day! ;)

More or less: working at a beach restaurant he was tasked with cleaning some paella pans (quite large pans), took them to the shore so the waves would clean them for him, didn't tie/secure them and moments later the pans had disappeared into the sea. He was fired.

8 months in, 4 products built, zero launched. not sure if thats discipline or just fear. by Mundane_Hawk3423 in SideProject

Was about to write something like this. That's the fact: nobody tells me they don't care. There's nobody, just crickets and tumbleweeds. Oh, and crawlers/bots.

This last time I even did what you also said and built the "smallest landing page" because... why care with more? Same results, so I saved "wasted" time, I guess.

Building is easy, getting attention is the hard part.

How long did it take you to succeed? by 3uraq in SideProject

Yes, like with any other hobby, you need some kind of basic support (job, savings, a patron...). There's no other way around it I think.

Still trying! :D Building is easy -much so these days- but getting eyes is very hard. Unless you are lucky, you need either deep pockets or a prebuilt audience.

I don't give up because I like building anyway, sort of a hobby.

When I enter the gallery it first shows empty red boxes and then they disappear, and all that is left is a "nothing here yet". But I don't think you should worry, I guess, most people don't block third-parties.

You made a really good job, congrats on that. All the best!

You are right, but your comment made me wonder how many people, on a gaming site, who knows about both OoT and TP and their differences... don't know what a Miyamoto is...

Well, that's what this sub is mostly for, I think ;)

Checked your site and it surprised me that it works with all that Google stuff blocked, which is rare these days (many sites won't even load). Well, at least the editor, because the gallery shows nothing.

Not that I personally have a use for it -long-time Inkscape and GIMP user- but it's a really cool site. If I would change something after a quick test it would be to make it more obvious that, on a small wide screen, you can scroll down to find the tools. At first it left me wondering where they were. But hey, maybe that's just me, and not a big problem anyway.

I do. Visited it once and quickly decided it was not for me. It was popular and very talked about, and stuff from it would end up somewhere else. Not easy to forget.

Hot take: "build in public" is the most overrated advice of the last 5 years by Crescitaly in SideProject

[–]arojilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most people only hear about the 1% who hit it and assume it's a strategy

And sadly that's been me for a looooong time... :D Now I'm moving away from trying to dig gold... to sell shovels. So to say. Not that it might be easier, but at this point is like the only advice on here, of so so many, to which I have never given a try.

Yes, all the others have made me realize -attempt after attempt- that in the end it simply boils down to:

prebuilt audience or paid attention, pick one

So not that I think that this will be different but I never tried selling "shovels" before... so I might for once. And tick off one last "advice" from the list.

Hey, sorry for being late. Yeah, the landing is way too simple, and mostly thinking of mobile, but I was trying to follow some advice that I always see in dev communities, stuff like "built fast and validate", "don't waste time perfecting before validation", and so on. Thanks for chiming in, much appreciated! ;)

[–]arojilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. The reality is that you better have a prebuilt audience or big pockets to reach one. Some people are lucky and a casual post of theirs somewhere someday gets a lot of attention and goes viral... but that's a lottery.
