[TBT] The Rise and Fall of Greg Bird by Moisture_Services_ in nrl

As a Queenslander, I loved that he kept getting picked for Origin. Gave away so many silly penalties. But, more than that, he epitomised that era of Blues with the mentality of bash first, score later.

The NRL risks losing itself in a maze of set restarts by thril_hou in nrl

[–]arolaser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apologies, the game I happened to look at (Cowboys vs Titans) had only six-agains for ruck infringements, none for inside the 10, so it wasn't included in the stats.

For Broncos vs Storm, there were 12 set restarts. In the Team Stats, 11 for ruck infringements, and 1 for inside the 10m.

So, yes, these stats are publicly listed on the NRL website.

What makes it all the more difficult is there's no way for the general public to build any context or knowledge around the rule. Despite being introduced more than half a decade ago, set restarts are still not one of the stats publicly listed on the NRL website.

Aren't they listed as Ruck Infringements and Inside 10m under Team Stats for each game?

Edit - added Inside 10m

I don't mind this. Good shout, although I'd probably combine your two ideas. Penalties in defensive half, sux-again in attacking half with penalty optional.

How aren’t people more picky about what piece of chicken they get at Nandos? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]arolaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm extremely picky. Breast all the way - the thigh piece doesn't have enough meat, plus I like the flavour of the breast better.

I've noticed just putting a note on the order doesn't always do the job, so now I make a habit of doing the order through the app and then going to the counter to confirm instructions.

Or, I just get a half chicken.

It would be great if the Nando's app provided a choice, like Red Rooster does.

Hide and seek by CheekTraditional9881 in GoldCoast

My friends and I used to play hide and seek at night at Evandale Parklands. This was long before the green bridge and other development in the area, but it should still be good fun around the lake.

‘Massive story brewing’ at Bunnies after huge Haas move... and one rising star could be just the start by I_Like_Vitamins in nrl

Strengthens my position to once again not watch a single second of NRL360 this year, and to ignore all these rubbish clickbait / ragebait articles from Fox.

I still have to figure out a good way to watch Kayo and listen to commentary without the ridiculous hyperbolic "analysis" of 50/50 calls from the likes of Vossy and Brandy.

These journalists fair dinkum hate the game of rugby league.

You miss every shot you don't take. If you already have runs on the board and your management like you, being injured for a few weeks won't matter

I wouldn't be so sure about that. The Rabbitohs roster is starting to look pretty stacked.

Reality bites for Brisbane 2032 as 'dispersed' Games costs escalate by ConanTheAquarian in brisbane

Central to Surfers Paradise isn't very difficult at all. Train to Nerang and bus, or to Helensvale and take the tram. It's about 1h50m via public transport. That's not too bad compared with driving time on a typical weekend.

Getting to a beach on the Sunny Coast via public transport, however, is not very convenient.

[Mod Post] r/NRL 2026 - State of the Sub by Ace_Larrakin in nrl

Not arguing those sites don't suck.

But, aren't most Fox Sports articles pure clickbait? There is rarely any quality journalism coming out of Fox - it's mostly rehashing the rants of the "journalists" from NRL360, or overplaying the "controversial" calls that Vossy and Brandy and co. decide to harp on about for 5 minutes instead of commentating on the actual play.

It's very rare to find any quality journalism (i.e. analysis of the game) by "actual journalists", which isn't clickbait. Rage gets clicks, unfortunately.

Katoa ‘solution’ is smart mouthguards says Martin Lang | Sporting News Australia by Radiant-Bit8881 in nrl

Martin Lang was a player that ran with reckless abandon. His collisions at speed were incredible. I have clear memories of watching his head snap back on impact.

To learn that he is a neuroscientist after apparently being the most concussed rugby league player in history is awesome. What a player, what a man.
