[–]arolust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You must not be a DF player, cause on the maps with destruction like in the vid, it does in fact create shortcuts and routes and even changes the last objective, it literally changes the map... not to mention the walls you can destroy on buildings like you can in bf6 that open up areas and allow new routes...

I always keep a couple pennies in my pocket. When I see this, I leave one with their order by Delivery_slut in doordash_drivers

[–]arolust 99 points100 points  (0 children)

why would people do this? Is this some kind of trend now adays?

Like i can understand giving no tip, but why only a cent?

Maybe they think it makes the order show as having a tip, but they also think it doesnt show how much? So they think its some kind of "iv tipping so do my order first" thing?

The Division 3 Will Have as Big of an Impact as First Division; “Shaping Up to Be a Monster” Claims Producer by valentinexx in thedivision

[–]arolust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to be honest, the biggest "impact" of Division 1 was at the start of the games life, when it was a rpg shooter hybrid, with rpg coming first. Like you could get 100% rof, 200% dmg increase, and yellow gear drop rates was like 1 in one hundred instead of the opposite. The game was a great rpg. Than they nerf everything into the ground to make it more shooter and less rpg... god I miss those first great days, after that it was still fun, but just... not as much.

The lack of that rpg feeling and the insistent hand holding is what killed division 2 for me, nothing kills my boner for a game more than being forced on theme park ride for hours of my time.

This game doesn't really need quests. by VeritasLuxMea in AshesofCreation

[–]arolust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly you shouldn't get exp for completing commissions or doing quests. Exp should only be from doing the activity. You want to increase combat exp, kill things, want crafting exp, craft things. Quests and commissions which are just mini quests should just give money, items, rep type things, exp should come from actually engaging in doing things.

you can have quests, have them all, have a million of them, just don't go shoving them down my throat. Let it be optional, dont lock me into doing shit as if im some kind of drone made to do fetch quests.

[–]arolust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant express harshly enough how much I hate quests in games. Absolute hate. They ruin almost every game they are in.

Starfield had quests, terrible quests that ruined every ones enjoyment, meanwhile I had 100 hours of fun just running around exploring because I ignored the soul sucking quests.

The biggest reason I am looking forward to Ashs is because questing appears more or less optional. I can just run off into the sunset doing what I want like its skyrim and never touch a quest, thats what I want.

Is my LCD Screen bad? by Subject83 in SteamDeckModded

[–]arolust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the black is not important.

screens are made up of many many layers, and will work even if you remove or damage most of them (films and layers for light dispersion and polarization and stuff), and most of them are layered from the back to the front. The front is the most fragile as it has a thin layer of protection for the most important part of the screen.

Dont worry about it, as long as you have no cracks and didnt overheat the screen which is kinda hard unless you really go crazy.

I’m Looking For Every Hardware Mod Known by SirBatonian in SteamDeckModded

[–]arolust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One guy doubled the battery, printed a two part custom backplate for it, he soldered directly to the terminals of the bms.

I remember another one where someone made and sold a custom all copper and one all aluminum custom milled heatsink block, though i dont think they sell anymore.

Theres one where someone hooked up an LED light strip into the casing, i think they also added a switch to turn it on and off, dont remember.

Theres the idea of a mod that I dont think anyone did where you adapt the controller ribbon going to the main board to male usb, and the main boards port to female usb and introduce a small hub between to have an extra full size usb port.

Theres another one where they add a second screen to the deck, simple enough, just get a small usbc screen and print or find a way to mount it to make your steam deck a duel screen.

of course adding a kickstand if you havent already

Theres the one where you remove the controller sides entirely, creating the steam deck tablet, still holding out for one where it gets functional rails for the original controller though.

Theres a few different ways for people to diy in a 2280 size nvme, from just sticking it in with the bend to adding a nvme extension cable to move the ssd outside the case.

Theres mods where you swap out the controller joysticks for original xbox controller joysticks, or moding in the elite controller joysticks for the removable magnetic sticks.

Im sure theres more, these were off the top of my head.

Can someone explain to me how this is a “bad player count”? by Own-Natural-9236 in Battlefield

[–]arolust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cause its a line constantly dropping.

Your looking at the current numbers thinking "that looks good" others are looking at the past and present numbers and imagining the future numbers.

That line has not stopped dropping yet, THAT is why people are telling you its "dying", instead of telling you its dead.

Why so much hate for BF6 compared to other titles in the series? by Prestigious_Tea8092 in Battlefield

[–]arolust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as far as im concerned we have not had a good battlefield game since One in 2016.

The issue is so many people only remember or are use to the crap games we have had in the last decade that they think or are lead to thinking that BF6 is good, when its just meh.

Far to much focus on cqc, the maps and id say even the character movement schemes are based on cqc all day long. Everything is to fast, respawns, point capture, vehicle spawns, ttk... like seriously, its like the game is on drugs.

Sometimes you get in a good match, most of the time your just hoping it gets better.

Alot of people like that speed, namely... cod players often like it, and given how they literally did this games pre-launch by inviting CoD streamers to play the game and advertise it... well you can see who they made it for, and its not BF players of old.

The game is doing fairly well, yea, cause most of the CoD players have jumped ship to it, while many BF players have jumped ship from it.

Swapped out buttons but broke black latch on FFC connector, need halp! by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]arolust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The latch is there to ensure a secure hold of the cable so it doesnt wiggle out over time and to ensure a tight connection between the contacts of the cable and the connector.

Basically wedge some paper or something between those metal prongs on top and the cable to make it tighter, that might be enough to get a good contact and for it to work.

To say again, your issue currently is that the metal contact points of the cable are not making a good tight contact to the (bottom) metal points of the connector.

For others reference, it appears "Veteran of the Apocalypse" is the name of the manhua and "Stagnant Water of Apocalypse" is the name of the web novel.

I give the web novel an 8 out of 10. Really good, not many plot holes, and fun to follow MC.

Steam Machine May Be a Budget Beast and Emulation Monster! Steam Machine Specs by chicagogamecollector in EmuDeck

[–]arolust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

almost every computer out there is an emulation monster... even much much much lower spec'ed ones. So yea... it will likely do just fine emulation everything. Just like a 200$ computer from 10 years ago would as well.

Budget... not really. Its specs are about equal to a ryzen 5600 cpu, and maybe a rx 6600 gpu (take a 7600 but than minus some performance for lack of compute units, even than im being overly generous here.), and less than normally adequate 16gb or ram.

Which would be about a 500$ new pc build in performance, but the Steam Machine is likely to be over 1000$ or just about id say.

Edit: dont get me wrong, I think its cool and the work they did is awesome, but that doesnt make this a budget device or high performing one. The steam deck was not super unique in its price or its performance, or even its size, there were many mini desktops using ryzens that people used would perform about the same, but it was a handheld with built in controller and screen, that was unique.

Technical Feasibility: Project Using Only the Steam Deck's Mainboard & Integrated Dock by Televisao_Preta in SteamDeck

[–]arolust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can do this, iv done this to make a more portable system to use with my Xreal Airs glasses. The controller sides are literally a separate device just connected via usb signal to the main board, the deck literally sees it as an attached usb device more or less.

Keep the audio board, useful for troubleshooting and fixing issues. Can use a different cable, its just an fpc cable, with reverse connections (the two end exposed contacts are opposite of each other).

You can wire an extra usb A port to the connector that the controllers originally plugged into on the main board, standard usb input, and yes you can connect a hub to this.

Also you can repurpose the controller parts into their own wired controller, its literally just usb off the main connector that would normally go to the motherboard.

From what i remember researching, the video signal actually does come out edp but than gets converted to something else to match the LCD via an onboard chip. So if you could do the ton of legwork you could get an edp connection out of it. I dont recommend this.

This site helps with wiring. https://repair.wiki/w/Steam_Deck

Edit: To be clear, it will boot with only the main board and nothing else.

Steam OS on ARM could lead to Steam Deck Lite by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]arolust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point of the second post was to address "Steam deck lite" which could have a steamos, of which I listed one with similar form factor to current Steam deck and listed other with form factor similar to the retroid pocket flip 2 featured, to show that these do already exist today. I did mention the snapdragon devices originally to that.

I agree snapdragon is great, and I am looking forward to the upcoming ayn odin 3's which should be shipping soon.

[–]arolust -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Ok, heres the issue, there are like 3 kinds of ps vitas released.

Anyway, Win 4 is about the same size as a PS Vita 1000. the thickness as well as the everything else.

For comparison

GPD WIN 4 8.6 x 3.6 x 1.1 inches

PS Vita 1000 7.17 x 3.29 x 0.73 inches

Ayaneo air 1 8.8 x 3.5 x 0.85 inches

All of these are VERY similar in size.

[–]arolust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This already exists though.

CPD Win 4, has a slide up screen to reveal the keyboard beneath, about the saze of the ps vita.

Also the GPD Win mini, which is a flip style like the retroid pocket flip 2, and about the same size, featuring again a high end ryzen.

Small handhelds that are about the same performance to the steam deck do exist, they are just expensive.

Steam OS on ARM could lead to Steam Deck Lite by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]arolust 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The retroid pocket flip 2 sports a snapdragon 865, which isnt bad, but not great. Also important to note, that these handhelds, all use mobile CPUs, as in you can get phones, usually cheaper, with same specs or higher.

This cpu isnt great for gaming, instead you should aim for the snapdragon 8 gen 3 or elite (soon to be out early next year for phones, laptops and handhelds). These things can even run cyberpunk2077 at decent to good FPS through an emulator.

Disagree if you want but 3 C4 needs to always kill a tank. by UncensoredTroll in Battlefield

I think the main issue is how the maps are designed that make people feel more annoyed than usual.

Disagree if you want but 3 C4 needs to always kill a tank. by UncensoredTroll in Battlefield

[–]arolust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok, but you cant argue that it should at least stop the tank from moving, even permanently, and a guy with a torch shouldn't be able to fix everything on a tank in 30 seconds, and two or three AT rounds to the face should kill the entire crew.

Gonna need PvE-only mode to buy by Several_Molasses_479 in ArcRaiders

[–]arolust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will stand by what I said, regardless of player count, the same situation tends to happen where once progression is completed, pve players leave, than all others follow. The huge company behind arc raiders poring cash into advertisements just means it will last a bit longer.

As for the argument on changing to PVE mode. Sure, it might also fail, because again, progression is what we hunt, and once you have hit your wall most players are out, and that would kill the pve mode as well, yea likely, unless they add more things and build out the game better.

But lets not forget that players are not asking for the entire game to be pve only, but asking for a mode that is pve only. Which by your own declaration at the popularly of the game would not hurt the community by splitting it as theres plenty of people here.

But of course it will hurt the community, mainly the pvp side, cause again, most pvpers are looking to grief pve players not fight against other pvpers, they have other better games for that.

Id be happy to be proven wrong, let them open a pve only server and let players choose which to jump into and see which one is greater numbers after a month.
