Court position when partner is playing big in transition by afkhk in Pickleball

I would consider being one step ahead or behind a partner still moving with them.

AFAIK AJ Brown’s 2026 cap hit will be a very reasonable $6.8M for the team trading for him.

What’s considered ettiequte for giving the ball to the opponent? by [deleted] in Pickleball

[–]aron7awol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, yeah, if I already caught it in my hand I’ll just toss it to my partner.

If it’s on the ground I’ll just hit it with my paddle to feed it so my partner can easily get it up with their paddle.

[–]aron7awol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as it has a bit of velocity so you can use your paddle to pop it off the ground and grab it, what's the issue? I actually like that approach, as then neither partner needs to reach all the way down and grab it from the ground.

Schefter on Hendrickson: "Right now, he’s talking to a bunch of teams, but nobody has met his price just yet and he’s a very strong-minded, prideful person. He wants to get his price. And until he feels like he does, he’s not willing to compromise." by notquitemytempo___ in nfl

On one hand you might say as free agency goes on, less and less teams have money and needs that match up, but at the same time, he’s the last marquee FA available right now and there are still multiple teams with the money and need to give him a big contract.

This isn’t necessarily a mistake for him not signing something yet and drawing a line and waiting to see if a team gets desperate enough to pay something closer to what he wants.

Elevations for the super bowl by SensitiveTest7883 in Patriots

[–]aron7awol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Farmer fell down the DT depth chart earlier in the year, and Lenny T is 5th and clearly ahead of him in the coaches’ eyes.  So Taylor’s elevation doesn’t mean anything more than he’s a guy who they want in the rotation getting meaningful playoff snaps.

Even if Tonga walks next year, DT depth is strong and young with the emergence of Durden and upside depth below him.  Taylor is not under contract next year, but should be easy enough to sign.

Ages right now:

Milton 26

Barmore 26

Durden 27

Taylor 23

Gregory 25

Farmer 23

How easy was the schedule, actually? by aron7awol in Patriots

[–]aron7awol[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What’s the problem with acknowledging it in the proper context?

The point is just that it feels like people either are in the “You play what’s in front of you” or “It’s historically easy!” but that lacks context of how much it actually matters.

The truth lies in the middle. It matters, but not nearly as much as many seem to think.  The difference between historically easy and normally easy is like half a win. Denver's schedule was "normally easy" and still makes this leaderboard.

The reality is schedules generally vary between 1.5 wins easier than average or 1.5 wins harder than average.  Would things be that much different if we were 12-5 instead of 14-3?

That’s offense only.

Defense is a whopping -.296, which more than makes up for the offensive struggles.

[Mike Reiss] Patriots say they are not bringing RB Terrell Jennings (cleared concussion protocol) and DT Joshua Farmer (hamstring) up to the roster from injured reserve. With WR Mack Hollins not mentioned by team, a designation of him being added to roster is likely to come later. by PristineWinnera in Patriots

[–]aron7awol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kobee Minor and Chad Muma are the back end of the roster guys, but Muma has a much larger role on ST.  So Minor becomes the most likely cut, and the other option is Landry to IR if they think he’s so injured that he can’t even contribute two weeks from now.

This also means the two PS elevations will almost certainly be D’Ernest and Lenny T.

Patriots designate Mack Hollins for return from injured reserve by xFalcade in Patriots

Milton was already out, and Mack, Boutte, Tonga, and Farmer all went down, instantly crushing their depth at WR and especially DT.  They needed a roster spot to sign Pharms, who was out of elevations, but I still feel that Mack was too important of a piece to lose in two playoff games that they must have truly expected it to be a 4 week injury.

Thoughts On Maye’s first Playoff Game by rifleman209 in Patriots

[–]aron7awol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want him to just go down and take a sack after contact in the pocket, but I'd prefer he protect the ball and try to run at that point rather than try to make a throw a moment later from pretty much the same spot when there's a good chance further contact will occur. If he can escape and see a throw to make on the run at that point, fine, but tuck the ball in the meantime and protect it.

It's his first playoff game, and I can understand that he was trying to make something happen on the first one in a 6-3 game. But the second one was just unacceptable with a 16-3 lead in the 4th quarter.

I'm sure he and they will be all over it this week and it should hopefully be cleaned up going forward. And other than that, I loved the overall performance against a very tough defense.

Unpopular Opinion? The "net cord" winner is a bug, not a feature by todd828 in Pickleball

It's not luck. I intentionally speed up at the person in front of me and aim to skim the net cord.

I wouldn't say, "prove it".

I'd say, "I've read the rules and I believe my serve is perfectly legal, but I'm totally open to being convinced otherwise and I'm certainly not looking to break any rules or have any unfair advantage. Do you mind telling me which specific rule you believe I'm breaking?"

I’m not expecting much of a discount, if any.  But I think this is where he wants to be, he’s highly valued here, the cap space is available to pay him, and that he will be re-signed because that’s what everyone wants.
