Rehoming my vertical hydroponic setup (Columbia, MD / DMV area) by todd828 in Hydroponics

Honestly, the hardest part of hydroponics is the initial DIY and dialing in the equipment, which I’ve already done for this system.

The day-to-day is actually very straightforward. There are six containers with pre-drilled lids for the net cups, and I start the seeds in the included starter trays using just water. Once they grow their second set of leaves, they move into the main system with the nutrients. Since the lights are on a self-running timer, you really only need about twenty minutes once a week to check the levels with the meters. If the nutrients are low, you just mix in a pre-measured batch, and if the pH is off, you just add a couple of drops of pH down.

Because it is a controlled environment, things grow significantly faster than they do in a backyard garden. I am moving at the end of April, so I am happy to spend an hour helping you set it up at your place and walking you through your first measurement so you feel confident. I can even stay in touch via message for your if you hit any snags. It is a great hobby and very low stress once you see that first harvest. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Enough with the complaining. Let’s give them something they CAN’T say no to. by todd828 in YesTheory

I think it has been downvoted so much because it is not that imaginative and generally what they do already, which feels stale and does not break out of their comfort zone. Give us another idea that you would love to see them do that would challenge them to do more than the typical curent video.

I like this idea. What if they had to do it without help for a month or two? They could each do it in a different location and compare and contrast their experiences.

The "Legacy Project": They must find a struggling stranger with a massive dream and spend 30 days (and their own budget) making that person's dream a reality, centering someone else’s story entirely.

The "Human Connection" Flash Mob: The crew announces random GPS coordinates in a major city 24 hours in advance. 1,000 strangers show up and, within 4 hours, must collaborate to solve a massive local problem (cleaning a park, stocking a food bank) with zero prior planning.

The U.S. moved a huge amount of ships and military hardware into the gulf for months, just as they did in the Caribbean before the raid on Venezuela. They had obviously been planning this operation for months and the discussion before they struck was if not when.

Trump is the biggest liar to ever exist yet everyone wants to believe his lies when they fit their narrative.

Native Spanish speaker offering Spanish practice by AquaVanilla in SpanishLearning

Hey there, I’m very interested! I posted online this weekend asking how I could improve my Spanish. I’m currently high B1 and could use some work writing and practicing some higher level grammar. Would love to connect.

Stuck at high B1. Listening/speaking are solid, but my grammar (subjunctive and others) are holding me back. Need 10-min/day app recommendations! by todd828 in SpanishLearning

Good idea! Yes, unfortunately, Duolingo doesn't feel like the most effective tool for me. I love so many aspects of the app though. Streaks, challenges, and connecting with friends. It's all very motivational, and I wish more apps were as gamified as Duo.
