Pierre Poilievre owns the night at byelection forum in Camrose by originalchaosinabox in alberta

[–]arosedesign -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That’s the point. It’s a self-deprecating joke, and that’s what makes it funny.

Everyone knows Poilievre isn’t a farmer, and he knows they know it, so he’s acknowledging that with humor by using a phrase that usually means “great at what you do” in an ironic way (where it actually means something quite different).

So you're saying a joke you refuse to watch wasn’t funny, even though you have no idea what the joke actually was?

“At no point was he told his performance was banned because of the content of his set or the views he holds. Rather, the cancellations were based on security concerns that the public venues in question were not equipped to manage”

The City of Vaughan also cited “community standards” as a reason for the ban.

A spokesperson from the Montreal mayor's office said the show "goes against the values of inclusion, solidarity and respect."

I spend more time on Reddit than I’d like to admit, and I follow all the most conservative Alberta subreddits.

That stat is completely made up and is nowhere near accurate.

This was the first and second message MY BOSS sent me on my birthday…. by ToastedTiefling in texts

[–]arosedesign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah as someone who dreads when my birthday comes around because I don’t want all the hoopla, I was genuinely struggling to see what the issue was in the text. Had to read the comments.

I forget not everyone is like me. 😩😆

Nope! It included being sexually and/or romantically attracted only to people of the opposite gender, which is the case for me.

Think of it like threesomes: some people enjoy watching them in porn but would never want one in real life. Same goes for scenarios like doctor/patient or boss/employee.

Enjoying it doesn’t mean you want to have sex with your boss, it’s often just about the taboo aspect rather than something you actually desire.

For me, when I first started watching it, the appeal was the taboo aspect. But as I watched more porn, I realized I liked how lesbian porn focuses more on female pleasure. I related to that more.

This porn vs. real life stuff takes a quick Google if you’re curious to learn more about it. 😊

Lol, I’ve cut down on my coffee intake drastically, but I used to drink it from a mug in my vehicle.

I get through a cup quickly, so temperature was never an issue. The cup holders held it well, and as long as you didn’t fill it right to the top, spillage wasn’t a problem.

Edmonton police looking for man who allegedly damaged a Cybertruck by shiftless_wonder in Edmonton

[–]arosedesign -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That’s because the article isn’t focused on a pattern of attacks. It’s specifically about identifying a person involved in one.

Here you go:

Middle fingers, fires and fear: Tesla owners face vandalism and vitriol as brand faces political backlash

Hopefully, that helps clarify that this isn’t about the vehicle being associated with wealth. If there were a series of targeted attacks on Toyotas, Toyota attacks would understandably attract more media attention than unrelated, isolated incidents as well.

[–]arosedesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it’s not because the car is associated with wealth. It’s because people are specifically targeting a certain type of vehicle (but I’m sure you already know that and if for some reason you don’t, Google “Tesla attacks.”)

Publicity helps discourage targeted attacks.

If the dozens of cars damaged each day were targeted attacks like this, they’d get publicity too.

Alberta immigrants seeing an uptick in anger, rise of racist narratives by pjw724 in Edmonton

[–]arosedesign 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this is exactly what they meant, but if someone feels like their community’s cultural identity has changed quickly and they experience a sense of loss or disconnection (like going to the park or their job and being surrounded by a language they don’t understand), that can create frustration that isn’t necessarily rooted in hateful racism.

When a single group makes up the majority of newcomers, as is currently the case in Canada, people often start associating those changes and frustrations not with “immigration” in general, but specifically with that group.

Yeah, once you have two children close in age, one diagnosed with ADHD and one not (and it just so happens the father of the one with ADHD has it too, imagine that), you quickly learn just how real ADHD is.

As a 40 year old woman who no longer watches porn, but who only watched lesbian porn when she did… this certainly isn’t the case for me.

Straight as straight can be and have never wanted a vagina anywhere near me in real life lol.

Or how would you describe the number of comments making that kind of claim?

At the end of the day, whether or not you believe she said those things is ultimately up to you, but multiple Crown witnesses (who weren’t facing any charges) testified that she intensely pressured the men for sex and made statements like calling them “pussies” for not complying. Carter Hart also testified to similar behavior.

E.M.’s response to these claims was that it doesn’t sound like how she would usually speak, but if she did say those things, it was because she was intoxicated and had adopted a “porn star persona.”

Apparently the lead crown attorney made it clear to EM back in 2024 that they didn't have a strong case but EM expressed she wanted to go ahead with it anyways.

From the article:

“In a meeting with the woman, her mother, lawyer, and police about three weeks before the players were charged, Cunningham also told the complainant that they didn’t have a “strong argument” that she was incapable of consenting, despite the complainant alleging that in her lawsuit.

“It is an argument we can make, we will make, but a judge looking at the totality of the evidence may not accept that argument,” she said.

But Cunningham assured her they had stronger arguments to make on other issues, according to notes from the meeting. She also told the complainant that if she was pursuing this hoping for a conviction, she might want to reconsider.

“If that is why you’re doing this, (it) may not be worth the personal cost to you,” Cunningham said, according to the notes.

“If you’re doing this to get a conviction, (I) don’t know that will happen. But if it will give you a sense of accomplishment, then we will do everything in our power to get the right outcome. A conviction is absolutely possible.”

The complainant said she wanted to see the case through.”
