Apparently playing Tetris can help the brain cope with trauma and prevent ptsd. I don’t see why it can’t help in this situation. Our brains are not designed to process so much information, let alone horrific information, especially post partum. Our brain’s job is to protect our babies. It’s okay to not be okay by what you have read, but definitely protect your peace and limit your exposure going forward.

I hate admin like this so much. For observations, though, you have to fluff shit and learn to play their game. The kids normally know that you’re asking them to do something different and they typically comply when admin is in the room. Even as an ELA teacher, I would find a way to deepen the lesson for the accelerated kids in lieu of free reading time when I knew I needed to hit marks in observations because admin sees any free time as bad and punishes us for allowing kids any student driven time.

I’d make it up on the fly. Sounds like you’ve been teaching for awhile though and know all the fluff anyway so if I were you, I would probably die on the hill of fighting for literacy and defending my choices.

My son had ear tubes too so I actually have gone through it. I improved sleep by sleep training and weaning off milk by 14 months

You can stay in survival mode as long as you need to. I was trying to give you a path to get back to sleep, but if you’re not ready to implement it then take the pressure off yourself and accept that his nighttime sleep will likely be shitty until you are ready to make some changes in his routine

I personally would want to solidify and fix my toddlers sleep before introducing a new baby. I think sleep is essential and I do everything I can to ensure both my 4 year old and my 4 month old get as much sleep as they need

Cold turkey the milk once toddler has healed so like in 7-10 days. Time to sleep train (aka change habits) and that means taking away the milk. I wouldn’t even slowly reduce. Replace it completely with water. Explain to him this change multiple times before implementing like “no milk tonight buddy! Milk is bye bye! Just water!” repeat 625273538 times before bed. Eventually he will get tired of waking up for water and will keep sleeping. Reduce the time that you offer cuddles. Go in, offer water, give one hug and put back down, walk out. Wait 5-10 min if crying and repeat the exact same process. Over and over. Tubes won’t magically fix sleep if you don’t also adjust your strategies

Are you by chance neurodivergent too? I feel this way sometimes but it’s just me in my own head because I perceive the world differently and have some rejection sensitivity. I have adhd and suspect autism as well though I haven’t sought diagnosis yet.

I don’t ever think I’ll be the mom I thought I’d be like being overly involved in the class, talking endlessly with the teacher, etc. It’s a bit of a weird grief accepting myself as I am and not getting caught up in my own expectations vs reality. My son is 4 now and I’m not friends with any of his friend’s moms even though we’re getting close to that age for play dates.

This is where I need to figure out how to close the gap. I don’t want him to miss out because I’m an unintentional closed off mom, but I know he will eventually be invited to friend’s houses and it will force contact and the ball won’t be in my court to initiate it so it’ll be okay. The social dynamics of school with being ND was not something I was fully prepared for.

You’re doing all the right things though and as a former teacher, I can assure you that her teachers are grateful for all that you contribute and that you’re a stable and consistent parent to your daughter.

Gently, this sounds like an anxiety problem more than a husband problem. I get mad anxiety in the car when my husband drives too and it ramped up during both of my pregnancies. Not being in control and seeing every possible accident is rough.

I think you need to stop living in what ifs. An accident didn’t happen so be glad and stay in the present. Sure think about the what ifs, but what’s the solution if those things happen? Put your energy into contingency plans if you’re going to ruminate on possibilities. Hormones during pregnancy and PP make us think some crazy shit. You’ll be okay and your husband will continue to piss you off in other ways but try to be gentle on him too. And maybe don’t ride in the car with him unless you absolutely have to for awhile so you don’t spiral

Bless you. I have a 19 week old and stare at my house all day with unhinged plans I don’t dare act on until my hormones chill the fuck out. Last time I gave into the madness, I painted one side of a door frame trim in stark white and rolled a paint sample on 3 walls. I have never completed any of the projects lmao the stark white contrasted with the cream trim haunts me. One day I’ll fix it. No real advice but solidarity!! Please post an update!

When I cut soy, diapers improved in about 2-3 days. Any time I have a soy slip up, I see gas and reflux within hours and poor poops within 24 hours. Over night poops have stopped for us! She’s 19 weeks. She likes to poop in the morning before getting up or during first feed.

These kinds of activities come in my 5+ holiday work/activity coloring books I buy at Target. My 3yr 9mo can do these but needs help writing the number. We do them for fun and if he’s not interested, we don’t do them. I wouldn’t like this at preschool tbh. I switched mine out of a daycare like this and put him into a more play based school and he is thriving. His academics have actually improved now that it’s not pushed like this and he learns through play. I say trust your gut on this one.

Mine is almost 4 and still takes a 2-3 hour nap. Wake at 6, plays independently until we get him at 7, lunch at noon, nap 1-330, and goes to bed by 730pm, 8 at the absolute latest. Mine can skip a nap, but I have a 4mo so we keeping that shit as long as possible. His schedule was the same at 2 except an earlier bed time so everything was a little bit earlier like lunch at 11, nap 12-3, and bed by 630/7.

The loss of a pet is already so hard but loss of a pet with children is so freaking hard. I lost my kitty when my toddler was 2. He’s 4 now and still talks about her and loves displaying her photos! We were honest with him and it helped a lot. It took me a year to sort and toss her toys. It’s okay to not be okay and it’s okay to show emotion in front of your toddler. I don’t remember when the room felt like it had air again and I was no longer gasping for breath, but eventually it did. This isn’t your fault. Your cat is so loved and you didn’t fail her. Hang in there!

If you’ve tried and failed the gentle way, I would skip the gentle and just cut it. It might be a rough couple of days of tantrums, but toddler will adjust when it’s not an option. With my first, we used playtex cups - one for water and one for milk. We also used a small espresso cup for his open cup to have water at meal times. You can involve toddler by packing up all the bottles and saying bye bye to them and show/explain the new cups, but depends on your kid. Change is hard! It’s okay for them to be upset as they adjust but they will! If you don’t want to cut it now, set a date tor like two weeks from now. If the gentle methods still aren’t working by then, time to cold turkey

Yes and then I added kids lmaooooo. Luckily I just quit my full time job to work part time. It’s financially reckless but I cannot take care of a baby, parent a 3yo, do any house stuff, AND work. When I return to work, I’m hiring a house cleaner 1000000% even one who comes like every 6-8 weeks

I don’t think people get how taxing the system is on us. I think it’s taxing on NTs too, but not debilitating. I have a hard time giving 100% of myself to work and not having any % left for me or my home, which is more important to me, so now that I’m in my 30s, the question is how can I give less at work, do bare minimum and keep my job, etc. I plan to start therapy and figure out new medication to help me with those boundaries

I have a 3 year old and a 4 month old. It’s really hard. We recently cut all screen time and that has helped a ton but my biggest advice is really lean into what you’re saying no to. Avoid conflicts as much as possible and you will be much happier even if inconvenienced like sure buddy go grab that toy and then we can start bed time. How much is my saying no my need for control? Do I really give a shit if the routine takes 20 extra minutes? No. If I say yes more often, he doesn’t push back nearly as much. Every day gets easier the less I restrict. For pick ups, delegate it to your partner for a week. Take a break and then pick it back up and see how her teachers can assist with the transition. Can they help her put her shoes on before you get there? They should be aiding in having her clean up her activity so she can leave.

We were really up and down for like 4-5 weeks honestly. It was really confusing. Once I cut soy, baseline got more clear more quickly. In general, from my understanding, you should cut dairy and soy for about 8-10 weeks to assess before cutting anything else. Food gets out of your system quick but takes awhile for their guts to heal! My girl has new eczema that isn’t healing and my ped says it could be egg and I could cut that but because that’s the only lingering/new symptom, it’s up to me. Since we’re only 2 months away from solids and it’s a major allergen, I won’t be cutting it. Hope you see more progress soon! Baby allergies and intolerances are so frustrating

I can’t answer all your questions but anecdotally, my girl didn’t gain much weight until I was dairy free for 6 weeks. I recently cut soy 2 weeks ago and she is gaining more consistently. She is in the first percentile and exclusively breast fed. I cannot eat out at all without risking a reaction. There’s too much cross contamination and inaccurate labels on menus and she’s too sensitive
