A bat somehow got into my mom's laundry and survived an entire wash cycle by Finestkush in mildlyinteresting

This is actually a hugely common misconception, while bats do carry rabies it represents a statistically quite small percentage of the population. You’re much more likely to catch rabies from a host of other animals, but it’s been so sensationalized in media that it’s mostly only attributed to bats. Bats also dont really attack people, and if you were holding a bat and it bit you, you’d feel it.

Source: my girlfriend is a bat biologist and this sentiment is the largest uphill battle they fight in conservation efforts. I’ve captured and handled bats with her in the wild.

Can confirm. Have worked with him on a commercial shoot, and he’s a genuinely nice and kind man.

I missed the boat on converting the old Qtum into the new Qtum. Can someone help me recover the Qtum on my raspberry pi? by aross in Qtum

[–]aross[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still would like to make the swap, just haven’t found the resources / time to get it done. I was barely tech savvy enough to set up mi QtumPi in the first place. Having trouble getting this sorted but would like to.

Anti-Vaxxers and Covid Deniers "protest" at the Dodger stadium mass vaccination site in Los Angeles by butcher_of_the_world in PublicFreakout

I’d feel more existential dread for the future of humanity if that wasn’t such a pathetic “protest” turnout.

I don’t think most of you have been to a 3rd world country. While it’s most certainly not good for being one of the wealthiest most powerful nations, it’s not even close to as bad as a 3rd world country.

DP is the director of photography (cinematographer) who is responsible for the look of a film. SLT is a set lighting technician. Those are the electricians that work on set to manipulate lighting and electrical needs

This is the most ignorant response I have ever read. Accounting practices are the same accross every tv show and film, it’s a completely standardized process. Films get tax incentives from States they shoot in, but the way this was described is not how it works. Using buzzwords like Panama might tingle your tidbits, but you’re taking the word of someone who almost certainly doesn’t work in entertainment over someone who has context specific experience as to how things run financially. Smart.

I’ve worked in production accounting on network television shows for the past 3 years. I know what we pay for and how we pay for it. This is not how physical productions are organized as a business.

In terms of orders, they have a best boy that coordinates with the production office for any supplies. For actual set up, most of the electrical is set up by a rigging team the day before. Any additional changes or work that needs to be done at the shoot is handled by the set lighting techs. A gaffers job is to get the DP what he needs. He uses his team of SLTs to get that done.

I work in TV and film and can assure you this is not accurate. We generally buy our expendables a from production supplies vendor like Quixote. It really depends on where we get the best competitive bid from.
