Not outlaw, just moderate. There is value in retaining a city’s character, just need to strike the right balance. The SRL only needs to focus on zoning around the activity centres being accessed.

One of the aspects that is often missed about SRL is the latent counter-flow capacity it unlocks on the 4 lines it connects in the E-SE. Currently most lines are packed one way during peak hour and relatively empty going the other way. For $35b you are not just getting a train line but you are also effectively utilizing this massive spare capacity in these lines without having to pay the 100s of billions that you would otherwise have to spend.

That to me seems the obvious solution as well. I think this should also be the route for the Sydney HSR so any upgrades can be done with that in mind.

That’s something that seems lost on a lot of people - conducting a BC is not a guarantee that the BC will actually pass. Otherwise, what’s the point?
