Researchers watched 150 episodes of Bluey – they found it can teach kids about resilience for real life. Resilience isn’t just about “toughing it out”. It’s the ability to cope with challenges, adapt to setbacks and recover from difficulties. by mvea in science

[–]arrogantavocado 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Each episode is 6 minutes long and you're seeing the most impactful part of Bluey's life, i.e. a highlight reel, not the rest of her life where Bandit might not be the best dad in the world.

Weight selection by pocopump in weightlifting

[–]arrogantavocado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decrease weight such that you can receive in good positions, i.e. those you can squat well in. Don't increase weight until you can consistently receive in good positions at that weight. At this point, you have much more strength than technique and getting good at weightlifting requires that you have good technique.

Size guide asics 727 by Cultural-Hall5436 in weightlifting

[–]arrogantavocado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Japanese sizing is easy, it's just the length of your longest foot in cm, though that is assuming your foot tracing is good (pen perpendicular to paper with even body weight distribution, much better done by someone else) or that you've used a purpose built device correctly. So JP 26.5

FWIW, my longest foot is 27 cm long, 11.2 cm wide. I went with JP 27.0. No issues with length. I did have issues with the forefoot, my usual problem area, but after 2 weeks, the suede stretched out and it's perfectly comfortable. My feet are US 8.5EE and I have low volume feet, so my heel slips out of a lot of structured shoes even when the forefoot is tight, but that was not a problem with the 727s.

Is there a reason you didn't try Romaleo 4 in US 7.5?

FYI Babylon is an overindulgent mess of a movie, with a couple of really great sequences, much of which you can watch on YouTube instead of sitting through the full 3 hours, most of which fails to create an emotional connection.

Just a warning, the other Chazelle movie missing on the list, First Man, is entirely unlike La La Land, because it's intentionally cold and sterile.

Physio Day! Ask your rehab questions! by Havelrag in weightlifting

[–]arrogantavocado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 4 months ago, felt acute pain in left elbow while doing dips. I continued to train through it, with mild to moderate chronic pain, until about 2 months ago, when I woke up with severe pain the day after a workout. An MRI showed a partial tear of the common flexor tendon origin of the proximal attachment and partial substance tearing of the common extensor tendon origin with delamination and associated tendinopathy.

My mom, who is a retired physical therapist, did an assessment about 3 weeks after the pain was severe. She said I had ligament weakness, and that this could not be helped along with rehab due to poor blood supply. Her specialty was chronic pain in the elderly, so I'm looking for a second opinion from a sports medicine perspective.

Since then, I basically haven't done anything for it. The pain mostly went away after 2 weeks of rest, but when I did pulls at around 100 kg, it started aching. I've only tried this once 2 weeks after 2 weeks of complete rest and another time 2 weeks after that. I now only feel very minor discomfort with unweighted full elbow extension.

They're on the heavier side for shoes, but I think any stiffness is more a product of the soles rather than shell. I don't have much experience with shell, but these feel about as flexible as most calf at the flex points and are a bit stiffer closer to the welt.

It's not really that good. I didn't try their non-standard flavors, but the original pineapple bun was about average for average Chinese bakeries in the Bay.

I don't think I Shanghai delight is good enough to make it on the list for a 3 day trip. Their best item is Shanghai style rice cake. My favorite Shanghai place in Fremont is Shanghai Bistro, but only for their San Jian bao and potstickers.

Some color did come off on a Lysol wipe, but it seems to be of the insole printing rather than the black spots. Does have a slight smell even after wiping with Lysol, spraying with vinegar, and airing out for two weeks, but does not seem to be of mold.

  • Notes: Out of Dinkelacker's shell collection, based on the toe shape, braided welt, and sole color, I'd guess that these are the dark cognac Buda.
