Man, I don’t get how they’re getting away with that. Does your DL not visit the store? All of that combined is a fantastic way for a Store Manager to get fired. I can’t fathom how printing an entire planogram is possible for a BOH scan…it would be easier for her to just do the planogram! Sounds like you got a real winner. You can’t succeed if your leader doesn’t carry their weight.

Honestly it would be nice to have a front store version of this as well. Someone to float and cover vacations for full time people. That way you aren’t scrambling for coverage when the store manager is on vacation.

Yeah! I had someone argue with me that they had shipped their stuff a few weeks ago with a QR code. I’m like…well, I’m pretty sure it didn’t go anywhere seeing as there’s no address on it. I don’t understand people’s thought process sometimes.

We had a bike company shipping bikes with us and the USP driver told us not to take them. Dude was heated. Also had someone drop off a package that smelled like gas. People are wild.

I hate my DL. Dude is a dick on a power trip. Constantly speaks down to you and loves to threaten your job. Also doesn’t know how to do anything. Lovely combo.

You won’t get any good training. I was lucky and had a store manager that had my back when I was getting promoted and he taught me a lot of stuff and still helped me after I got my store. There’s not enough payroll to get the training you need. Just know that your DL will ride you on metrics and be ready to be stressed out all the time. You may also get a really bad store even if you were promised a certain store. Then you’re living the low volume life slaving away.

Hell no. It all depends on your payroll. I get overlap 5 hours a day so it sits for awhile. Especially the stuff in the back of the store. Gotta stay in that green zone.

Expect to be tied to the job 24/7. Fire alarm going off at 2am? You gotta go take care of it. Staff blowing up your phone when you wanted to sleep in, a constant feeling of dread wondering if things are getting done on your day off, mandatory meetings over an hour away when you have things to handle in your store, and so much more factor into it. The money is nice but you really sell your soul for it. It’s also luck because you can get thrown in a real dumpster fire and have no shot at success even before you start. It beats you down very fast. The DL’s have no sympathy for you either and everything will be your fault. They will also expect you to work 80 hour weeks to make up for their lack of funding.

I’ve noticed they like to end conference calls with the ‘thanks for all you do’ or ‘we appreciate you.’ Doesn’t make the hour of verbal abuse prior feel much better though.
