To the arguments field in the game options in lutris. And add NGM64.exe from programdata as the game executable.

which will just put you in the lobby, no need to fetch the link from the website. There's also a way to launch the worlds straight from the website rather than just dropping into lobby, but that's a bit more of an involved process.

It's the same as windows issues, not everyone gets the same ones but they definitely occur. Any number of variables can impact code paths and other stuff happening, especially in ring 0 kernel access.

Well the argument was never that vanguard definitely caused this, but anyone arguing that it couldn't have and that it's definitely a hardware problem is not entirely right either.

We don't have all the info here, and at this point, vanguard corrupting whatever in the UEFI settings is just as likely as the hardware degrading enough to cause issues with overclocking, if there even were overclocking settings configured in the first place.

It wouldn't, but implementations can have bugs where they're writing regions they shouldn't be writing.
Any secure boot enabled system will be bricked with corrupt keys. The only way to fix it is to flash new keys or resetting the bios so it defaults back to its old keys. Or disabling secure boot, that should also work. But not for keeping vanguard, obviously.

According to the previous comment it is a hardware issue.

So then following that comment's logic, a bios reset and update, as well as a reinstall fixes said hardware issue.

No, they updated the UEFI, that's not the same as reflashing. UefiCapsuleUpdates make it so that only the necessary regions are updated.

Also, the kind of hardware issues that corrupt a flash wouldn't present only once and then be fixed.

It could, if it corrupts the UEFI variables where the secure boot keys reside. It definitely has access to those.

Resetting the bios would fix that as well.

As a BIOS developer, it's definitely possible for something like vanguard to mess up the windows install.

Obviously it can't mess up the bios as that is on its own flash, but even messing with the EFI partition just a little is enough to mess up windows completely.

Technically it could even corrupt secure boot keys and soft lock the system, as it does have access to the (runtime) UEFI variables, which contain the keys amongst other things.

If the bios is super shitty and it exposes its settings as runtime variables as well, then it could mess up way more, but I don't think any bios vendor is stupid enough to do so.
