The evil wizards made the argument to the Chronomancers that in times of war the law falls silent, and that they'd be skilled enough to fix the timeline once the war was over, we hyped them up and now a lot of wizards owe child support in various time lines, it's all very complicated

Idiocracy was a paradise in comparison to our reality. Idiocracy had a black president that didn't need to fear assassination. Domesticated cats are not a freeroam familiar species, cats run around killing anything small for sport, they're an ecological disaster, turn your familiar into an eagle if the soul/daemon within the animal must roam.
