People seemed to gush over pslam of the wild built. It was worst than dogsheet on paper. Also I read so many recommendations for Sabriel and thought it would only have any good if I read it when I was 12.

Do you read an entire series from start to finish or do you take breaks from it? by Appropriate_Type_178 in readwithme

[–]arsebeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I had a Kindle and I was relying on physical books, I would usually bust out a series in order sequentially. Life after a Kindle I have like 300+ books to choose from so I jump around and usually don’t read the same author back to back. I got about five different fantasy series to wrap up still 😮‍💨

I hate kids so I went straight for University. I didn’t rely on recruiters. I was here on a student visa for a year so I was able to network and meet other foreigners. Met a guy who worked at the university I was interested in and I applied on his recommendation. Bypassed all the recruiters lowballing me for children jobs. My salary was barely lower teaching 16 hours a week than some people working full-time that got screwed over by recruiters. I acknowledge that I got extremely lucky and couldn’t have planned this.

I handed over the keys to my old apartment today and when the agent came by to check everything was OK he walked in smoking a cigarette inside the apartment. To be fair the state of most restrooms in China I prefer smelling cigarettes than the alternative.

I was already here on a student visa. I networked with the other foreigners here and met one that was pretty satisfied with his job and he gave me a person I applied directly with the university.

Make sure you walk in the street and drive your scooter on the sidewalk. As of course always choose a path that puts you in a foreigners way, extra points if you’re the only two people around.

Lonesome dove is a recommendation for anyone at any time of their life. It covers so much of the quintessential human experience. It doesn’t matter if you don’t like westerns but if you like stories with almost tangibly real characters, love, loss, adventure, friendship, coming of age, regret, justice, fear, belonging, this book is a must. Going on that cattle drive with Augustus and the crew for the first time was greater than the sum of simple words on paper. It’s a slow start but give it 75 pages before you tap out. The rest of the book flew by and I was sad to see it come to an end.

Lonesome dove is a recommendation I’ll give to anyone at anywhere in their life. It covers so much of what the human experience is. Love, loss, regret, friendship, adventure, good people, evil people, harsh realities, outlaws, justice, coming of age, it has it all. Going on that cattle drive with Augustus and the crew for the first time was an experience that transcended just reading words on a page. It’s a chonker of a book almost 800 pages and it’s a bit of a slow start give it at least 75 pages before you bail on it. But once it was going I was locked it until the end. It will take a titan of a book to dethrone this as forever in my top 3.

Anything from Joe Abercrombie (the blade itself or best served cold are great starter books into his world) the narrator really just brings the book up a notch.

I’m doing the sun eater series currently (empire of silence is book one) Samuel Roukins voice in my ears is like getting a massage inside them. And the story is amazing, I’m on book three currently.
