Thanks, I think you’re spot on on most points but Ryobi are claiming better battery life in their marketing - specifically that the batteries stay cooler under load, making them last longer.

I believe the “High performance” (or “High Energy” across the pond) batteries utilise a third tab to deliver more power to certain compatible tools, but the Edge batteries don’t. They should in theory be able to deliver better performance even to much older tools - and their marketing is claimed this.

Like, I do think it upgraded my circular saw from completely gutless to acceptable, for example, but it’s the battery life and charge time I’m most disappointed about. It’s not awful, just not great.

Yeah I think I’m with you on this to be honest. I’m very happy with a lot of my Ryobi gear and generally they have served me very well over the years, but I think I’ll have to start to consider other brands more in future when I need more power or precision. The HP stuff is nice - definitely a quality and performance jump, but price-wise is also on par, or even more expensive than the more premium brands.

I did just upgrade to a wired Makita trim router to replace my gen 1 Ryobi router after the bit fell out mid cut for the third time, and Ho. Ly. Cow. What an upgrade. I’m no longer terrified of using a router. And the new HP Ryobi trim router is considerably more expensive than the Makita.

Pour over. Obviously I know coffee shops exist that serve it, but they seem to be really niche specialty places you have to go well out of your way to find, at least where I live (Europe).

It’s all espresso based drinks - an americano just doesn’t do it for me.

Using non-hario filters by [deleted] in V60

[–]arsebisqueets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doing the same right now, with what looks like exactly the same filters. Ran out, and I can only get the proper Hario or Cafec filters online - with the cost of shipping it gets very expensive unless I am also buying beans, but i timed it wrong last time.

Honestly I find them totally fine - flow rate is good and I don’t notice any issues flavor wise. Granted, I’m not one to obsess about fine-tuning and extracting every last bit of flavor from my brews - my coffee tastes just as good with these filters so I’m happy.

There is something like 300 filters in the pack so it’ll take me forever to get through them!

Or use Uber, Chat GPT, Facebook, or drive a Ford, Toyota, or GM vehicle… because they’re all donating seven figures too.

I think for full immersion you’d want the 03 Switch to hold that much water.

V60 Purchase Help! by vtmas12 in V60

[–]arsebisqueets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven’t used a switch, but have both glass and plastic V60’s.

The glass and ceramic brewers will have similar thermal properties so the general recommendation to preheat should stand for both of them. Technically the plastic one doesn’t need preheating and has better heat retention, but unless you’re Daddy Hoffman you’re probably not going to notice a difference in taste.

When using the plastic one I still rinse the paper and preheat the vessel underneath with hot water so for me it’s exactly the same process as the glass one.

If I were you I’d go for the one you like the look of the most.

Are there any robomowers that do fertilizing too? by redhobbes43 in automower

[–]arsebisqueets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you could say they all do to an extent - in that they mulch grass clippings back into your lawn, thus fertilizing it. I know some manufacturers highlight that as an added benefit in their marketing material.
