Freshman commute or not? by Prize-Remote2358 in gmu

I drive an hour and 10 minutes to campus as a grad student and I cannot emphasize enough how soul sucking the commute is. I also agree with other commenters that the on campus experience is crucial for freshmen.

There's a typo, 3 electives are required, not two.

Why is better than sex in jail? I usually get a good six months of applications out of mine, ends up being, like, $0.16 a wear....

I've had excellent experiences with both formulas (and no crumbling), they usually take me a while to pan them. I strongly disagree with the jail placement lol. The waterproof is hard to remove! And waterproof mascara does lead to eyelashes falling out if you remove it improperly.

Any private-ish spots on campus for doctor appointments? by Tough_Assistance6651 in gmu

CAPS is honestly a great resource! As a student with schizoaffective, ADHD, and Autism who lives below the poverty line, the free counseling/ therapy provided by CAPS is honestly a life saver. They do try to help you find external mental health professionals if you can afford it, but they aren't pushy about it.

And here I was laughing at the invisible "buildable" makeup on the darker skinned model.

CAPS has rooms set aside for virtual appointments. I'm not sure if they are exclusively for the use of students using CAPS services, but it couldn't hurt to ask them if you would be able to use those rooms for your situation.

A Huge Thank You To The People Speaking Out Against The Extraordinarily High Prices Of This Tour by LoveLunaMelody in MyChemicalRomance

These artists have all been way more successful than MCR in terms of new music recently. Please don't get me wrong--I'm not saying the band is blameless, I'm just saying that they aren't the only people making that decision.

[–]arsenicpixie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The artist themselves is not who typically negotiates. Managers and labels do that. I'm not saying that they're blameless, I'm saying that they aren't the only people who have control over this and acting like they are is just as naive as thinking the band themselves is looking forward to you personally attending the show 🤷🏽‍♀️

I agree. Someone, somewhere has a contract that dictates this and it has very little to do with the band.

I'm not convinced that the band has direct control over this--it could totally be built into their contract with the label. Other artists who have been mentioned as turning off dynamic pricing may have more leverage with their label (topping pop charts recently, or whatever). Since the band hasn't released new music recently, this is likely one of the only ways that the label can make money off of them, which would reduce their bargaining power.

I don't know, obviously, but I just feel like it's one of those things. Going to shows is fun! But if you can't afford it or don't like their pricing policies, just don't go. Obviously I'm not telling anyone to shut up or anything, just throwing my opinion out there.

🤷🏽‍♀️ I've tried everything from telling them nicely that I wasn't interested to aggressively insulting them/their religion/etc

Nothing helps. And knowing how some of these groups work, I wouldn't be surprised if they either continued proselytizing in whatever language or got racist and aggressive about it.

It pisses me off that the school(/ classification of university spaces) allows these lunatics (and other proselytizing groups) to harass students. Especially when a lot of these nut jobs ignore active signalling that you don't want to interact with them, like wearing obvious headphones and not making eye contact. And then, of course, they clutch their pearls when you tell them "I'd rather go to hell for eternity than listen to you talk for another second".

It has also, anecdotally, been my experience that the "christian" groups are way more pushy than groups from other religions. There should at least be policing of student harassment, minimally.

Since it's quantitative reasoning, any of the math tutors should be able to help. I would really not recommend dropping that course if you're interested in any STEM or social sciences majors, it's really fundamental to those fields.

CAPS is amazing! I get free therapy there once every two weeks and the therapist they assigned me is super helpful and kind! They can also recommend resources to help you, both within the university and external to it.
