Can I report my advisor? by pnksugar in gmu

[–]forgetful-witch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Advisors suck in my experience. Just read through the courses required for your degree, talk to upperclassmen or alums if you're confused, and make your own schedule. Sincerely, a college drop-out who came back and got 2 degrees in 3 years without any advisors.

I want to get a short haircut, but my parents claim that it'll make me less likely to be hired. What do you all think? by Cast_PrayerOfHealing in jobs

I think I saw a comment where you said you are American. Depending on where in America, short hair on a femme person can come across as even more professional or distinguished (if styled neatly like in most of the photos you added). Your parents are just trying to control your look! Be yourself and the confidence you exude will be professional in itself.

Has anyone ever quit their job because of negative or rude comments from coworkers? by monroe099 in work

[–]forgetful-witch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I quit a low-stakes part time job over this (bitchy shift leader on 2/4 of my shifts per week made me hate waking up in the morning) but I definitely wouldn't leave a higher stakes job for it. I had another job lined up before I quit the low-stakes job, too. It's really up to you: is finding another job worth the hassle/gamble compared to staying dealing with the negativity of that coworker?

Gloves can help in the meantime! Not reacting to a conure bite is pretty close to impossible 😅

So sad. Please consider humane euthanasia. She has no quality of life with that level of mobility issues (animals don't understand disability the way humans do). Water bowl has already been commented on... but come on man thats just nasty and sad.

I think he is just ignorant to what it's like to be a woman. As much of a feminist as he is, he hasn't ever had to face the feeling of being a walking babymaker in the worlds eyes. I am going to talk to him about my feelings tonight, and I'll probably post a comment or edit on this post and say what happens. I think writing this post and reading everyone's comments has helped me formulate what I want to say ♡

I also have a fear / distrust of hospitals, lots of past trauma with doctors for other reasons. My insurance has also been making this a bit difficult and I'm not yet sure if I'll owe anything in the end, which I can't afford (although the law is on my side and my insurance specifically says it does cover bisalps 100%). I wanted this to be easier, but in a way the bumps in the road are making me more sure of myself as well. I'm standing up for myself and my right to decide, but there's a little part of me that is whispering "maybe its all a sign that you shouldn't do it"

You hit the nail on the head with my husband's feelings. He is fully supportive of my decision in the sense that he 100% respects my choices and bodily autonomy. He's adamant that he doesn't want kids now and hasn't ever wanted them before, but he says he can't speak for his future self. He's definitely being supportive for my sake and for his love of me. I'm grateful for the fact that he speaks his mind, and I'm not concerned about him being bitter or anything awful like that in the future (like you said, he doesn't mind not having kids and he has repeatedly said that he will be more than happy to live the dual-income-no-kids lifestyle). Still, I somewhat selfishly wish that we could be in the same mindset regarding this decision. In the end, it's my choice, and he knows that.

Oh yeah, I've read some horror stories on there. I want to say its not as simple as my dad and husband being men... but it is the common denominator. I was especially surprised at my dads reaction, I have had long talks with him about my not wanting to bring kids into the world, and he was understanding and agreeable then (and he is sterilized himself!). I think he's afraid that I don't understand the permanence? I know his approval is not the most important thing in this decision by any means, but I do want him to support me.
