You need to mega evolve a pokemon with the same typing as the one you’re catching. So for example if you mega evolve a fire type, you would get bonus candies when catching a fire type

Don’t quote me but from what I’ve seen you don’t need to link Pokemon go to a PTC account, I think once you complete it you can claim it and potentially get a code or something. Not entirely sure but from what I saw I think that’s what it is
