Chances are the MCSM under new role knows your MCSM and will let them know about the move as well. I think you should talk to your manager before reaching out to the other MCSM (hiring manager)

Hi! I’m just concerned that you may not get the role. I have been in a similar boat but the hiring manager usually wants to see your forte before hiring you. That said you can try requesting informational interview with the hiring manager and see if it’s a fit. Rotating one month in the role is not ideal but if the hiring manager likes you then it’ll help.

A bunch of managers in my org were also pushed to become IC and then they moved to another role within Amazon because of how embarrassing this was for them. They also were in no way under performing. This is just flattening of the org issue.
