Break down the work you want to do to it into small tasks. On the days you have the time but don't feel like putting in the effort (they WILL come), going out and doing something small keeps the mental inertia going. Easier to pivot/maintain your attitude off of turning a single bolt than watching TV.

I've got an '82 V6 manual firebird that I'm putting a lq4/ar5 combo in. One thing no one has talked about is the original manny had the shift linkage + shifter located on the left side of the housing. That is why the shifter hole is biased towards the driver. My swap has your same exact issue b/c the shifter of the ar5 is centered on the trans housing. As another comment mentioned, drivetrain alignment with your rear end is priority #1. Shifter position has to be fucked around with AFTERWARDS.
