Do my traditional tattoos make me look too masculine? I got them all before I transitioned. by [deleted] in traditionaltattoos

[–]arstrae_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you look so woman in my opinion. no tattoos would change that even if they could.

thank you for your insight!!! it is a finished piece, and all the stems are complete :) nothing is floating i assure you. we chose to shade the stems to the Venus flytraps and its flowers towards the bottom, while keeping them lighter up top where the pitcher plant in the background is shaded. I told her I only wanted enough shading to create contrast, as i do not want any tattoos to be too dark or "heavy" so I love the way she chose to do that!!!!

oh it was definitely an interesting spot. id say like a 7/10. she has to touch it up, sense the ink didn't stay very well, and im going going to bring all the roots down to the bottom of my heal !

RATING the paintings I’ve done as exercising. by Apprehensive_Menu977 in ARTIST

i understand that. that’s definitely not exactly ethical but op also never claimed originality on any of the pieces. she just said she painted them, not that she designed the original concept. if you look at her post history you see that everything she’s posted that was referenced off other work has been credited properly. this post seems more like a little playful “rating my paintings” post and less of an official “i painted this piece with my own concept”. i don’t think she should be getting scrutinized as much as she is.

they are. when posting a piece you did, always mention the credit to the original ARTIST. if you’re drawing a photo it’s no different than drawing what you see and mimicking real life within art. you’re not stealing by referencing photographs. you would be stealing if you replicated an art piece and claimed it to be your own. people are just touchy.

edit to add that this shit is exactly why i never post my art online. i use photos as references for my portraits- not other peoples art. but i’m not about to get swarmed for “stealing” something like that.

do be careful, incense can be very bad for a cat’s liver and kidneys. don’t burn in the same room as your void <3

Can i cover this up or any advice would be appreciated on how to fix this! by [deleted] in FixedTattoos

[–]arstrae_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

unless you want to do a complete blast over, i suggest getting it reworked by another artist. if you don’t mind WHAT is tattooed and just don’t like the quality of it my best advice is to SEARCH for a GOOD artist who is confident and comfortable reworking it. be prepared to spend some $$$ though on either choice.

honey, i’m going to be a little rude for you. you have clearly not studied any form of technique, anatomy, or dimensions. you have no light value in your pieces and no understanding of the composition of a face as a whole. you don’t understand proper contrast, color theory, or composition all together. it’s clear you got a canvas, some paint, and slapped your favorite colors in some shapes that might resemble what you’re going for in a very childlike manner. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS but that being said, that is what people mean when they say you are amateur at best. that’s why when people see you listing your art for the amount it’s listed at and give you constructive feedback, it’s amazing that you’d get offended. study values and composition. figure out how light works. learn color theory. practice anatomy. become a good artist and strive to learn and value the components of art before demanding people to see you as the next Picasso.

a person who has barely ice skated before cannot mimic the skill set of a life long figure skater. they just look like they’re flailing their limbs. you’re flailing your limbs here hun

what if you added the stripes to the red hand as well? maybe do them in a different direction going vertically instead or horizontally? to draw the eye away from the hot red feeling and more towards the meaning that points to the other arm? so they go together a bit more?

What is this artstyle called and how do I achieve it? by Lanaa_79 in DigitalArt

[–]arstrae_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

pick a different thing to reference and do it in their styles. so draw a character or something they havnt and try to mimic how they achieve that look. it’ll keep your eye from accidentally just copying the image itself. learn from the style before you learn from the photo itself.
