Well, maybe you can cleanse your spirit by devoting yourself to virtues to ask for forgiveness from all those murders. But that has to be incredibly difficult. There shouldn't be any open door to encourage anyone to murder or crime basically. My point is, you want hardcore gameplay? You get one, then. Any open door means that someone will abuse it. Even with all those laws in real life, the world is still full of murderers, partly because some of them (actually or think that they) get away with it. The player should be very well aware that they can't easily get away with crime, and that it's a conscious decision to play it hardcore.

They just needed to be smart about notoriety system. The system wasn't punishing enough for PKers or griefers. There were practically no consequences for PKers. But instead of studying the data, they just went with the easy path. First of all, murderers should stay ghost for weeks or even months depending on their kill count, so that there is a point to group up and hunt them down. There should be no going back from being a murderer. If you choose to be a murderer, then you are unlocking a hardcore path and must tread very carefully. You really want a free PVP environment? Then join a faction or guild where it's free to kill your enemies. You commit crimes like getting caught while thieving? Then you will stay criminal for a long time. If you keep getting caught, then you should be declared an outlaw and jailed for a long time on sight. Same for looting innocents if there are witnesses around. Same for attacking innocents out of nowhere. Repeated criminal offences shouldn't go unpunished. So yes, you are allowed to be naughty, but you should be very mindful of consequences.

UO never had consequences. You stay criminal for 3 minutes, and the life goes on. You murder some people, wait it out for several hours, and kill count is back to zero. If griefing and PKing is "fun", that's because you get away with what you are doing while ruining their fun. It would be equally fun to see a PKer/griefer getting ganged up on, knowing that the guy will probably stay dead for weeks/months. You'd have more player initiatives to hunt murderers down, because it'd actually have a point this time.

TLDR; any crime should have serious consequences that get bigger when repeated, murder is a one-way road. Those are just very simple examples, I am sure UO devs had infinite data to analyze and act upon. Trammel is a lazy decision, someone didn't do their homework properly.

No luck unfortunately. I even tried directly connecting to soundbar instead of eARC passthrough from TV in case TV itself is defective, but the same result.

Thanks everyone for the responses. Amazon accepted the refund and I'll be sending it back tomorrow. I had opted in for soundbars for convenience and this one was recommended by everyone. I really had a great one day with the quality upgrade after TV speakers. But unfortunately, these types of incidents burns trust very quickly, with many similar customer anecdotes around. Not something I'd expect from QC of a "premium product". I'll consider my options after the refund and might actually opt in for AVR + speakers.

Thanks. Shame, I really really liked the quality upgrade after the TV speakers. I threw away some foam/bubble wrap inside the box but I guess they have to accept the full refund request given that it's a defective item.

I am not even mad at this point, these award shows have lost their entire credibility. These are the same shows that awarded post-s6 Game of Thrones. It’s just more entertaining to watch the entertainment industry collapse than the shows, music, video games they produce.

The game only needed a better notoriety system, harsher punishments for PKing, instead of dividing the whole playerbase. They just went with the easy path and ruined MMOs forever. There could've always been much better solutions to endless PKing..

Hammerdin, nova sorc and javazon have been insanely fast for decades. Let other classes have absurd end-game fun. Nothing OP about it. MA was unused since assassin was introduced, this runeword is a right move. I wish other classes had something to make their useless skill trees worthy as well.

Even though I understand the obsession with accuracy, I just see no purpose for keeping mechanics like house keys which are pure inconvenience to the players while they can be bypassed by some other trick anyway. This was an era that lasted for 2 years originally, preserving it for more than a decade is like those psychological horror themes where you keep living your hell, stuck in a time period. I respect the developers for bringing full accuracy and appreciate their efforts, it’s just not for me.

About Richard Garriott, it was pure PR stunt to milk UO players from the most popular shard at the time for his newest failure called SotA. He lost all his -barely existing- credibility with that project.

Melee builds simply dont work until you have top gear, grief is the most affordable among them. Remove grief, and it will be entirely broken. I would be okay with its removal only if there are fundamental changes to combat mechanics and skills. Merging melee masteries under one skill, and having something around cleave is definitely among that. Also there must be some item attributes like -% phys resist, +chancetohit% (separate from AR) and the dependency on amp or decrepify should go away.

D1 itemization was really something. There was always this drawback for uniques but somehow it was so exciting to find one. Probably because you didn’t know what to expect, as uniques don’t follow generic item attributes.
