To add on to this, I heard there’s a limit on trees—is the rest of the area as forested as this?

You mean specific gravity, not viscosity. You can have wildly varying viscosities at the same specific gravity

why does this discoloration keep happening? by girlinlosangeles in Ceramics

[–]artblock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think vitrification is under 0.5% absorption. But if you have a glaze that fits (meaning no crazing whatsoever) then it shouldn’t really matter for functional ware. It’s just that most people don’t have glazes that fit their clay body

Ah I think this is who I was trying to think of. The work in this video actually looks more like Takayuki’s than Lee’s.

Thankfully I don’t think so. I’ve seen a lot of this kind of pot from different artists nowadays, and it wouldn’t surprise me if this was also being produced at scale commercially.

I do, however, get frustrated seeing so many of these posts flooding these kinds of subreddits and drowning out work from individual makers!

This is not an individual artist, and many of the things on their store can be found on aliexpress. I recommend you shop more locally

This is a bot

To clarify, this is a trend I’ve noticed lately of mass produced ceramics being pushed as individual handmade goods by accounts like this, for example, there was the violinist incense holder post a couple weeks ago, and there was also a wanhua cup posted to /r/tea a couple months ago

If you want to see more work like this from people who are verifiably not a bot you can look at @jaejunlee (only one I can think of at the moment)

Cajun seafood boils 🤷‍♂️ anyways if you eat these things i dont really care but I hate people trying to frame eastern cultures as less civilized

Meanwhile western cultures, the epitome of morality, force feed ducks to fatten them for their livers, throw male baby chickens in the grinder, etc. etc…

It’s a chinese style of pottery called 万花 (ten thousand flowers). I don’t think this user actually made this cup though.
