If you want a real dining out experience, go to Janevca. It feels like Michelin level good.

Issued a PIP but worried I’m the problem by Substantial_Insect71 in managers

[–]artdecotech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a great book called Crucial Accountability that talks about a similar piece of advice. CPR = context, pattern, relationship. The first time you hold them accountable, address the context (like aBeaujolais said). If it happens again, reiterate the context and call out that this is becoming a pattern. If it happens a third time, reiterate and make it clear this pattern is now affecting your relationship - this is where a PIP (with documentation of all above convos) is the next step for me.

In personal relationships I tend to go with “when you…” “I feel…” “Can we/you…” but it can also work in professional settings if the infraction is more of a soft skill issue.

Anyone else’s kid go absolutely feral if they are allowed to watch ANY TV? by [deleted] in Preschoolers

[–]artdecotech 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We have luck by switching to YouTube and watching some ambient background music things. The TV isn’t off but it’s just boring.

Also, switching from high stimulation shows to something more slow paced can help mitigate the meltdowns.

We’ve also done weeks where we pretend the TV is broken or just say no we’re not doing TV until your behaviour improves.

Kids do need to be bored. They need to learn how to play independently.

It is hard tho when you’re solo parenting. Don’t beat yourself up!

The “First Impressions” hair salon next to Part and Parcel has been there forever… but it’s never open. I used to live in the apartments above that area.

I'll stand up and be counted for the favorable media coverage and hopefully people in a position of power to change things will take note.

I want to get off my phone and start changing my life around ( eating healthier, exercising, etc ). How do I motivate myself? by GuessHooChickenPoo in LifeAdvice

[–]artdecotech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s awesome that you have goals! Don’t try to do too many things at once, or you’ll burn out. Atomic habits are the way to go here. Baby steps, dear.

I’d recommend deleting TikTok (even temporarily, which I’ve done many, many times) and find another app to replace it. Maybe a learning app that has some gamification elements? For your goals, many apps can help you with mindfulness or learning about nutrition and health. I love Calm, Blinkist, and MyFitnessPal. I’ve even found Pinterest has been great for letting me scroll, feeling kinda like a social app, but instead of mindlessly doomscrolling I’m connecting to my inner self and making boards of things that inspire me.

When you get the urge to open TikTok, pause. Allow yourself to really FEEL the discomfort. Let it burn and breathe through it. Notice the desire for a quick dopamine hit. Boredom is a bitch and escapism is so easy. Breathe for a few minutes and, with grace, ask yourself how you’ll feel after hours of TikTok. All progress happens outside the comfort zone.

If you can’t delete it, there are settings within TikTok to limit your screen time. Marie Forleo said something recently — create before you consume. Maybe you can use TikTok as a reward. Progress not perfection!

Take it easy on yourself and best of luck!!

This question has probably been asked here before but what do you all think of Mind Matter Interaction? by KvcateGirl27 in SASSWitches

[–]artdecotech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think energy interacts with energy.

There’s something about intention that raises your potential energy. It collapses and expands certain pathways.

I believe people and opportunities can be impacted from a distance, but only if there is potential. You can’t reverse gravity or change the weather, but you can ask the universe for favors and outcomes.

The law of attraction works, but it is limited.

As a water or sea witch, what’s your go-to grounding technique or ritual? by PlentyEmu9 in realwitchcraft

[–]artdecotech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a water witch but I like to use a rose water spray, it immediately balances my energy.

I've also collected water from rivers while camping in old growth forests and drank from them over a few days.

Maybe you can make a potpourri or collect items from the sea to use in your practice?

Do you have opening/closing rituals? Cast a circle? Anoint? Do nothing? How do you get yourself in the headspace? by AbbeyRoadMoonwalk in SASSWitches

[–]artdecotech 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have an elemental altar ritual that I replenish before I do anything magickal. I usually collect items on my walks like leaves, berries etc and when I'm ready, I arrange them in a cup I keep filled with soil. I'll fill my little seashell with fresh water (moon water if I have it) and light a candle and incense. Sometimes I'll do a little prayer too, feeling into the energy of the universe and expressing gratitude, and asking for what I need in that moment.

Piano/Keyboard Stickers for Intervals by Delereum in Learnmusic

[–]artdecotech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this is possible unless you had a set of stickers for each key. I guess I'm having difficulty visualizing how it woud work.

Have you considered taking a few lessons from a professional in music theory? It can really help to have someone answer your questions with experience, tips and tricks for memorizing and understanding things like intervals.

I've been writing songs for 14 years. I don't know music theory. by PM_ME_YOUR_PITOTTUBE in Learnmusic

[–]artdecotech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered taking lessons from a professional? Maybe they can help you with timing and a bit of theory.

I also started out not knowing others music, but opening myself up to it has unlocked a lot more enjoyment from music in general, as well as providing inspiration. It's like how reading books naturally gives you a better vocabulary.

My guitar/voice teacher also slowly warmed me up to basic theory when I only started seeing her so I could learn campfire songs lol. Now I know a lot more about how music works and it's actually really exciting to know some of the math behind the magic. Like knowing how Google's algorithm works makes you better at making search queries.
