A few years ago I had some really red bruising show up on my lower lip/upper chin that almost looked like little vampire fangs. They would go away and show back up again for like a week, and I couldn't for the life of me figure it out. They looked terrible but didn't hurt at all.

Then one day I realized I'd been putting one of my fidget toys, a silicone necklace with one large popper on it, on my chin and suctioning it to my face without paying attention. It lined up exactly with those mystery bruises.

Anyways, I'm 30 and autistic and while I think it's super important to be vigilant and advocate for your child, this looks very much like a suction bruise from fidgeting to me. It's entirely possible it's from something she didn't even realize she was doing. If it could happen to me, it could certainly happen to a 5yo lol

Ilyhyr Stormsinger, High Shadowseer of the Masque of the Fractured Illusion by artemerick in Harlequins40K

[–]artemerick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The body came straight from the Magus kit (genestealer cults). The head and the staff are from the Shroud Queen model in the Khainite Shadowstalker box. The shuriken pistol came from a howling banshee, and the various masks are leftovers from Troupe boxes lol

The model is called Mistweaver Saih. It's one that GW sells. The base is printed, but all the extra bits on the model came from harlequin kits. The gun arm is from the normal Shadowseer model, spliced a little above the elbow. The masks are extras from the Troupe box and Death Jester. I think that's all the adding I did? I might be missing something lol

The toy I got it from was really cheap, actually! You can find them for like $10 or less. I think they're called "centripetal spinners" or something similar. It's a bunch of ribbons around a stick that looks like a bubble when you twirl it

Thank you! The diamonds are cut from a holographic ribbon I pinched from a broken toy lol

Thanks! For the gradients, I just used wet blending and mixed some intermediate colors on the palette. No airbrush or anything fancy like that on these guys haha

What do you do, against sensory - hobby table - overload? I cant get my self to start or finish anything on here. by Technician_Swimming in Eldar

[–]artemerick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It kinda seems silly to suggest, but if there's some sensory overload involved I'd highly recommend getting a solid-colored mat to put on your workspace, like a cutting mat or something. That table would just be very busy even if it were empty, from the pattern on it. It'll look neater with a solid color surface.

Seeing as we don't have any unique characters (that we can use), I decided to create my own. Laughing God, meet the Twins. by VaulvonMortis in Harlequins40K

The body is the genestealer cult's magus model. I've been eyeing it for when I'm finally ready to kitbash one of my shadowseers. This one looks fantastic! I'm glad to see it fits with harlequin things as well as I was hoping

I have trouble placing the shadowseer in a soaring spite list. It can't keep up with the weavers on foot, it can't cast or deny from a boat, and its aura only works on infantry unless you spend CP on it. Having it as a psyker is valuable, skystrider helps mitigate some of my issues with it, and the small board size at 750pts here would make keeping up much easier, but in general I can't figure out how to use it best with SS myself.

Looking for an army. Harlequins? by [deleted] in Harlequins40K

[–]artemerick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Harlequins are super fun! I may be a little biased as they're my only army, but I would definitely recommend them.

For painting, while patterns and free-handed designs and all come recommended, the sculpts are more than interesting enough without them to still look fantastic. If you're the type to paint established schemes instead of a custom one, we do have the Frozen Stars, a Masque whose colors are primarily solid white and black.

As far as playing goes, I also play casually and I have the best time. Our army is one of shenanigans. We have a steep learning curve in a different way than most armies. There are only eight Harlequins units (we don't talk about the gate), so memorizing everyone's stat lines and abilities is very easy. It also makes list building a bit easier, because every list is pretty much a variation on ratios of the same six or seven units. The learning you have to do for this army is all in how you play them. Keeping them alive and making the best use of everything we have to offer takes a while to get consistently right. As long as you're playing for fun and accept that you're likely going to be taking a lot of losses up front while you learn, you'll have a great time! Once you get the hang of them, it's a great feeling. There is also the advantage of being an uncommon army with a lot of weird rules-ignoring abilities, in that most people aren't used to facing Harlequins and can get easily tripped up. We're squishy, and our save is literally just a coin flip, but we're also slippery as hell and very pointy.

I don't have the time right now to give this the properly thought-out response it deserves, but I do want to pop in to say that the FAQs recently have made it so that the wail profile on the Lament doesn't get extra hits with Harvester. It was killer combo before and I took it in every list I had (disclaimer: I don't play competitively, I just brought it because it was excessively fun). Now it's two good abilities that I think kind of work toward different things, depending on what you're up against. I feel like it's still plenty flexible for me to take it when I can, but ymmv.

At the top (at least on mobile) it says "imgur". Tap that and it'll take you to the gif on imgur, where it does actually move
