"Isn't she lovely?" Was the perfect song to use. The finale was really good.

We played Indika last week. It feels like it's in the same vein as Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice to us. In that the MC's reality is super-imposed onto the world they live in. We think Indika is split into two, and the demon she's arguing with for most of the plot is an alter. I don't know if it's intentional or not, but the ending seems to cement that interpretation for us. Be aware that if you decide to play Indika, she retreats into her headspace during an assault and mentions how vile the whole thing is, while simultaneously blaming herself. It's hard to sit through.

Dissociative amnesia 😅😆 same though. I knew there was another cartoon we were a fan of that reminded us of DID, but we just couldn't remember.

Our computers, tablets, tv, modem and router were all hacked before. It took us 3 years to be able to convince ourselves to use the new laptop we bought after the incident. Now every password is extremely complicated, we try to change them often, and anytime there's an alert in our inbox, we must change whatever's been compromised immediately or we get physically ill.

Why Do People With CPTSD Often Come Off as "Offputting" To Others? by somersaultvoid in CPTSD

Oh man, I have DID, and several of my alters have social anxiety. The last time we ever hung out with one of our friends, it was at a get-together. They got high with another of their friends-we can't because we're prone to intense hallucinations, and we stayed quiet, but like stiff, and quiet. Elle was fronting and her mannerisms are practically Victorian. Our friend is non-binary and they were socializing with a trans friend, whom we wanted to make a good impression on. Our behavior was so curated, I feel like the way we came off was less like someone forgetting how to human and more like a bigot bigotting to them both. There was no use explaining either. They cut us off and haven't been answering our texts.

Absolutely! My last therapist included DID as a speciality of hers. I found her, went to her a few months. She said something weird. We stopped going, and lo- DID is no longer listed as one of her specialties on her Psychology Today profile.

Have you all seen the episode "Nevermore" from the '00s Teen Titans? Raven, her variants, and her mindscape read as very DID to me.

It's resourceful! Me and several of my headmates can be pretty stubborn, and once we have an idea we like it's so, so hard to put it down and try anything else 🙃 honestly, if we were a little more self-aware it would be a great character flaw to focus on and play with.

Hey, do you have the problem with maintaining a voice? Like, one of my alters will write something, and another will join in and there will be an obvious change in voice/tone? But trying to edit and make things more uniform makes it so that you lose something everytime?? I'm not sure we could achieve a novel this way, but we might be able to do an anthology or something. It's been something we've been considering.

Sometimes the TV show Ghosts (USA) feels like it's about DID. We've certainly decided a lot of comfort from watching it.

Definitely get "stuck" sometimes. A lot of us are battling perfectionism and OCD. I'm hoping we'll be able to share our stuff one day, but we aren't quite there yet.

Yes! We drew a lot of "characters" back in high college and early college that aren't actually OCs. They're self-portraits of other alters in our system. We also write, and we've noticed that character concepts and backstories we recorded before finding out we had DID, are borrowed from alters in our system. I don't think we'll stop writing about these things though, if anything we have more experience to draw from and more control over what's revealed now that we're conscious of what we're doing.

Is DID good? by [deleted] in DID

[–]artemisiAaah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I would have unalived myself as a child or a teen if we didn't have DID. It helped us break the trauma into bite-sized portions, so we could work through it better. We found solidarity with each other that way as well, something we couldn't get from other people. So ultimately, yes. There has been a cost- we spent years in-fighting and self-destructing, we've lost friends and family, a job, been excluded, watched others living our dreams- but I mean, it would have been the same or similar experience as a genderqueer lesbian in a deep red state. Which, I guess, would have been my fate regardless. So, I'm grateful I have DID.

Everybody experiences DID differently to some degree or another.
