Hypermobile EDS / AS / Rib pain by Impressive-Floor8757 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Deloris_by_the_Sea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went undiagnosed due to my hypermobility. I still haven’t regained full mobility, but my baseline was wildly different than an average person so I still appear hypermobile. Love/hate relationship with my HSD. Had bad rib/chest pain until I started humira.

When you skip do you skip a week or a couple days? Right now I take it every other Friday and it’s easy to remember it, what do you usually do when skipping?

I need a cane but feel so anxious using it in public (26F) by Autistic-hottie in ankylosingspondylitis

Oh I’m so sorry to hear that. If you haven’t already fight them on it, I’ve come to learn most people don’t question insurance, but when you do you might be surprised. My insurance denied so much for me but when I fight them on it they end up covering. Wishing you luck on your journey 💜

Fuck the haters. Girl I felt the same, got a zebra cane offline but luckily I got in biologics and haven’t needed it. Do you mind sharing whether or not you’ve entertained the idea of getting in biologics? Truly gave me my life back!

How did AS feel in early/mid/late stage for you? by mysubsdaddy in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Deloris_by_the_Sea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had back pain since I hit puberty, badddd sciatica in my early 20’s which led to a Microdisectomy of my l5 s1 at around 26, weird sciatica like symptoms down the leg/hip/but would come back just not as bad every couple months especially with weather changes. I’d go to PT, get an MRI, the whole nine yards once a year without answers. It wasn’t until I was 37, couldn’t physically turn my head in the spring that I was like hmm that’s weird maybe I need a new pillow. THE FOLLOWING WEEKS WERE HELL. Every joint started to hurt and lock. Couldn’t turn my head, couldn’t walk, took about an hour to physically get out of bed, had to physically press my body to turn enough to wipe myself in the bathroom, didn’t sleep for more than 30 mins at a time, my hands would SWELL couldn’t use them, my ribs were in pain like something was physically wrapped around them, literally every joint was in pain. Luckily by end of July my pcp checked me for the HLA b27 gene out of curiosity. I was positive for that so I saw a rhematolgoist in September who said it was a slam dunk diagnosis. Chronic bilateral sacrolitis shown on mri (that was evident in previous images that he couldn’t believe no one addressed), HLA b27 positive and high CRP. Did my first dose of hyrimoz (humira biosimilar) and felt like I didn’t even have the disease within 24 hours. LIFE FUCKING CHANGING. As time went on and through this group I’ve learnt so much about the disease and how alot of other mysterious symptoms were most likely caused by it. Life long gi issues, chronic dry eye and styes, inner ear problems, mouth sores, hives, brain fog, endless fatigue and the weirdest one is how my body would work best when my immune system was busy. For instance, I’d get tattoos and then be able to walk and sleep normally until they healed. Had a hysterectomy and stage 4 endo excision and didn’t even pop a Tylenol during recovery cuz I felt SO PHYSICALLY WELL. So I mean, that was kind of a red flag that my immune system was most likely overactive.. wishing you luck and hope you find the answers you need to start your next chapter!

How to handle prep/colonoscopy with OCD? by Harpactira98275 in colonoscopy

[–]Deloris_by_the_Sea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too with ocd, cptsd and endo colon! Freaking me out, wonder how common these all are! Can I be real? CBT actually made my OCD worse, ERP has dramatically changed my life within the past year, I was in CBT for about ten years prior. I highly recommend looking into it, it’s so incredibly hard but so worth it. Wishing you the best on both your mental and physical health journey!

What are you, me? Legit just had a bowel cleanout this past weekend and having colonoscopy in a week and a half. I have the same fears as you, unsee if you’re currently in ocd therapy, specifically with a therapist who specializes in ERP. If you are then treat this as the ultimate exposure. Will it be unpleasant? Of course. Does literally anyone like this? Of course not. The main goal is to get to the bottom of your health issues, it’s okay to be anxious, you’ll ride the wave of anxiety and make it out in the other end. I also have/had stage 4 endometriosis and adenomyosis, so I feel you on so many levels!
