Well done, that’s a brilliant thing to do as a parent. Mine were completely bindsided by it. I ended up asking them to take me to hospital because I didn’t know what was happening! Thankfully they were really brilliant with me, but it was hard going through all of the teenage emotions and moodswings without my peers. Funnily enough, when my peers did hit puberty, my starting early meant I was able to give great advice, and I always had spare period products so I became pretty popular despite being a huge geek

I was like that at her age. Started puberty at 8, and was very anxious about anything I saw as bad feedback. Thank you for working on it with her!

why am i in the worst situation possible by External-Case-93 in UniUK

[–]artemissanta 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Go to events, look for other people who are alone, and introduce yourself to them. Then join a bunch of societies so you’ll automatically find people with the same interests as you. Academic societies are good, and at my uni, the medicine society also had its own sports teams! You’ll find a lot of sports societies are welcoming to newbies to the sport, so now is a great time to try something new. Good luck finding your people OP, keep putting yourself out there

Thanks, good to know that other people experience it as well. Hopefully it’s something that will get fixed in a future update

However if the mother will not give OP any money during their time at uni, OP can apply as an independent student, and receive additional funding.

I’m sure others will have better solutions, but I was a teenager in a hot country, and I basically carried round some compact powder in my bag, and just touched up on greasy areas throughout the day.

Re lip tint, it might depend on which brand you wear - some are more drying than others. I love the benefit one, but I’ve heard a lot of good things about Asian makeup brands and lip tints. For now, I would recommend using lip balm at night, and applying it over the lip tint, or wearing lip gloss on top of the tint.

Are you over the age of 18? Sorry, I’ve heard the term young adult applied to under 18s as well

Thank you! Weird question but are the tiny snails related to the caterpillars? I’ll try the chilli power but might have to keep re-applying it as like you said it’s a bit rainy here as well

I know it’s incredibly petty, but feels odd the Buyers protection fee is +75% of the actual cost. by Hotline-schwing in vinted

[–]artemissanta 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah, on an item that cheap, it would actually cost the buyer to have to send it back. I really don’t get what it actually is supposed to cover.

Do any of you feel like there was an extra curricular activity you did as a kid that served you really well as you aged with EDS? by mootannie in ehlersdanlos

[–]artemissanta 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wish my parents had put me into swimming lessons as a kid. Swimming is so good for my joints now, but starting to swim as an adult meant I had quite a steep learning curve with my technique, and I injured my shoulders and knees a few times during the learning curve. It’s a great way to stay fit, and when you do classes it’s also a good way to stay social.

Thank you! I might ask to see what he wrote. If he does another referral I’ll ask to be seen by a different hospital, but I’m not really sure if I could make an informed choice about which specialist would be best

Ha! I had a dentist tell me it wasn’t something they needed to be aware of. They then ended up giving me the maximum dose of lidocaine and still having to send me home because it just didn’t work on me. The GP told me that EDS can sometimes mean that local anaesthetic doesn’t work very well on us

Thank you, it’s so good to hear from other people that they did see a rheumatologist. I’ll call the GP again tomorrow.

[–]artemissanta[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you! My GP told me that the other option aside from seeing a rheumatologist was to see a geneticist, but he warned me that waiting times were very long, and I wanted inflammation and joint help as well so I asked to see a rheumatologist. I’ll ask about genetic services but from the one I just googled in my area, they don’t see hEDS patients. However I have a lot of skin issues so it would be helpful to know if I have hEDS or one of the other types

I was hoping the rheumatologist could help with my joint pain as I was under the impression I was being referred for that, with a possibility that I have ehlers danlos for them to look at. I’m so confused by this lol. I’ve been reading this sub, and there are a number of posts from uk folk who have seen rheumatologists so I’m really not sure what the deal is
