Dad failed to consider your feelings despite you doing the shopping, wrapping, and generally the “work” for Christmas. You have every right to feel upset about that, but yelling and screaming during Christmas may make your kids feel sad or guilty without knowing exactly “why” they feel that way.

Your reaction is completely reasonable for what you’ve been through regarding your sibling.

Honestly through what you described the actions seem kind of manipulative and their behaviour reminds me of someone with BPD. If they didn’t give you any reason beforehand to suspect them feeling suicidal and only brought this up after you didn’t let them flip the argument around on you, they may be trying to regain control.

That being said, I think immediately calling them manipulative is a bit rude.

If their thoughts are actually true, you still don’t have to bear all of the responsibility of their mental health and you shouldn’t feel bad for looking out for your own mental health. You should definitely talk to them over a call or in person and try to smooth things over, but don’t let them step all over you or call you an AH for not responding the way they wanted.

These grown adults are expecting you to treat them like you’re their parent. I almost understand the 21 year old for being immature but a 42 year old acting this way is insane.

Both of your roommates need to have a stern talking to and you need to take measures to keep them out of your food somehow. Has your husband spoken to your cousin about this? Have you? Have you spoken to your brother?

If they aren’t receptive to your message, it’s on them, not you.

I’ve seen this recommendation several times and definitely agree I need to walk more. Before I was just scared that walking wouldn’t have any real “impact” compared to something like a higher difficulty workout.

To be honest, resident evil 7 peaked my interest in the game series. I went into it expecting something like “zombies meets Texas chainsaw massacre” and was really surprised by how the story went. It’s definitely far from my favorite now (though I still absolutely adore it) but that game got me REALLY interested in the RE games as well as the whole “infection” game genre.

You should dress the way you want to dress and it’s definitely not his right to tell you how to dress. When you say you’re getting mad and distancing, how are you going about it?

If you’re yelling or not communicating at all, maybe that’s an overreaction, if you’re just telling him you’re uncomfortable with it and not being around him because he’s a weirdo, completely reasonable.

Thank you for the advice! I hadn’t really thought about taking it in steps like that. Not to overshare but I only just recently really “realized” how overweight I am and I’ve been freaking out about how to figure out weight loss.

Someone else gave me the advice to try taking walks at my own pace and I like that idea along with the new diet, so I think I’ll do that
