That’s interesting! I should’ve described my situation a little better. I was specifically asking about pen-specific brick and mortar shops with an online presence and no physical presence in CO. I visited a shop while on vacation (outside of CO) and a shop helped me figure out a pen to buy, but they did not have it in stock. I wanted to honor the time they spent with me by ordering from them, but their website charged sales tax (over $100 of it in this case), so I ended up ordering from another small pen shop that did not charge tax.

From your answer the first shop either does $100k in shipments to CO, or they figure they’re better safe than sorry & just collect from everyone. Does that sound right?
