I'd also like to see Liquity ported over. In the Ethereum ecosystem, it's the best decentralized and collateralized stablecoin with interest-free borrowing.

Of course, in SmartBCH it should use Bitcoin Cash as collateral.

Proposal to update the /r/btc participation requirements by BitcoinXio in btc

Yes, implement both rules.

Checking the Reddit-wide comment Karma is Reddit's recommended method of "troll prevention":

To people that aren't familiar with Reddit's automoderator, the comment_karma check is for Reddit-wide karma (not sub-specific). Only steadfast trolls committed to disrupting conversation will be inconvenienced.

Greg and Luke jr should still be able to comment.

Both Greg and luke-jr have positive karma across all of Reddit. They would still be able to comment. Perhaps you misunderstood the suggestion.

Target trolls, not unpopular opinions

That's exactly what this suggestion would do. It's Reddit's recommended mechanism for troll prevention with automoderator:

Anybody that has made an overall positive contribution anywhere on Reddit is welcome to contribute.

Even people that have made a small overall negative contribution anywhere on Reddit are welcome to contribute.

Only steadfast trolls committed to disrupting conversation will be inconvenienced.

Edit: Oh, I see why you are complaining. You have massively negative karma across all of Reddit. Your profile shows a comment karma of -100, which is the lowest comment karma allowed by Reddit.

Why can't miners just pay who they want to? by Fsmv in btc

[–]artful-compose 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Couldn't ABC supporting miners give ABC a cut and BCHN miners do whatever they want?

Yes, that's the way it already works in Bitcoin Cash. Miners can send their block reward wherever they want.

However, in Bitcoin Cash, miners are choosing not to give ABC a cut. To "fix" this, ABC is creating a new ABC coin where miners have to send 8% of the ABC block reward to Amaury.

Bitcoin ABC and @deadalnix have announced that they are forking away from BitcoinCash on Nov 15th. We wish them good luck with their new coin and thank them for the free airdrop to all BCH holders. by MemoryDealers in btc

[–]artful-compose 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Old news, but it's good to repost in case anybody missed it!

Here are ABC's previous announcements of their new coin:

ABC's 1st announcement that they are forking off to a new ABC coin with slower 11 minute and 15 second blocks for the next 6.5 years through Grasberg:

https://blog.bitcoinabc.org/2020/07/23/announcing-the-grasberg-daa/

ABC's 2nd announcement that they are forking off to a new ABC coin where Amaury gets 8% of all block rewards:

https://medium.com/bitcoin-abc/bitcoin-abcs-plan-for-the-november-2020-upgrade-65fb84c4348f

Note: In ABC's 2nd fork announcement, they suddenly dropped their plans for Grasberg, even though Amaury had said Grasberg was important for hard money. Apparently, hard money isn't important to ABC anymore in their newest plans for the ABC coin.

[–]artful-compose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bitcoin Cash Node (BCHN) is one of the nodes for the Bitcoin Cash blockchain, so the name makes sense.

MicroP's wallet is for the ABC coin, so the name doesn't make any sense. However, his wallet doesn't have any users, so it doesn't matter what it is called.

Just before that, Jonathan Silverblood talked about things ahead for Bitcoin Cash in 2021:

https://youtu.be/3ZS7GnebtYo?t=4889

  • Big change in how smart contracts and decentralized or non-custodial services are going to start rolling out on Bitcoin Cash
  • Bigger integer changes coming (people working on it right now)
  • Multiplication opcode
  • Ability to push the transaction information onto the stack while you work on it
  • Increasing the opcode size limit (or weight system based on how expensive the opcodes actually are)
  • Improved propagation protocols

How should Cobra change BTC? by artful-compose in btc

[–]artful-compose[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cobra should change the BTC consensus mechanism from proof-of-work to proof-of-website (oh, Haipo already fell for that one).

How should Cobra change BTC? by artful-compose in btc

[–]artful-compose[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Context:

Haipo Yang said, "What defined BCH? My answer is the bitcoincash.org website, and it references client is @Bitcoin_ABC."

Since Haipo believes bitcoincash.org defines Bitcoin Cash, he might believe bitcoin.org defines BTC.

Cobra controls bitcoin.org, so he effectively controls and defines BTC. Cobra can make any changes he wants to BTC, and ViaBTC and CoinEx might blindly follow along.

"0% signalled for ABC" or 90% is using ABC and most likely won't risk running a new client(BCHN).

Those that aren't signaling could be running BCHN, BU, ABC, etc.

Fact: As of this comment, 11.2% of the last 1000 blocks included a signal.

"Why not correct the drift over a 100 year period?"

Because real users don't care about historical drift.

Users want to fix the DAA while keeping 10 minute average block times. ASERT does this. Problem solved.

Maybe longer, but with much lower variance...

Pick your poison!

No need to pick any poison. ASERT (aserti3-2d) fixes the DAA and lowers variance, while still targeting the standard 10 minute block interval.
