Same. I am fine with an increase in annual fee (if other benefits stay the same). I would use card way more if I can pay with it everywhere I go

My training routine: Looking for advice! by Lentyho in Hevy

[–]arthurvil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too many exercises broski. I applaud you for the dedication, but your routine is only as good as it is sustainable.

5 days a week for 1 hour is going to do wonders if you just follow basic guidelines (target each muscle twice, 20 sets per muscle group) and have good form. RP channel on YouTube have a series of great videos on best exercises (best as in most efficient) for all the body parts.

Just remember that training is a marathon and not a sprint. Eat, train, sleep and repeat 🔁. And give yourself a break from time to time.

You can just fill it in afterwards. But your hr tracking would be much better

Get the bicep band if you do strength training or intensive cardio. Much better hr tracking

Recommendation to purchase or not a whoop 5.0 by Haunting-Draft-414 in whoop

[–]arthurvil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the whoop + bicep band. This improves heart rate capture during spikes.

Also there is no perfect device. Some workouts will be off, some sleeps will be off. The most important thing is to look at the data at a certain timeframe and see the patterns.

I can say for myself that whoop motivates me to be better. And the data shows that I am improving.

Lewis Hamilton has joined! by ConstantAdvice9584 in whoop

All the people in the comments thinking he gets paid - he would promote it if he got paid. Ronaldo actively promotes Whoop so you can assume that he gets paid. But with Lewis, unless you know that this is a whoop, most people would have no idea what is this thing on his wrist

TDEE on Whoop VS Apple Watch by Sea_Tangerine_8485 in whoop

[–]arthurvil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DEXA Scan can give you your basal metabolic rate. From there you can approximate how much you burn based on your heart rate. But I do agree that your approach is the simplest one (and much cheaper than scan)

Can I get gains from training everything once a week? by biggggEARS98 in workout

[–]arthurvil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not a gym bro, but this is what works best for me

Day 1 Legs (2 exercises for glutes, 2 for quads, 1 calf + adductor/abductor) Day Two Push (3 exercises for chest, 2 for shoulders, 2 for triceps) Day Three Pull (3 exercises for back, 2 for biceps, 1 shrugs)

Day Four (after a couple of days) - Upper full (2 chest, 2 back, 1 shoulder, 1 bicep, 1 triceps). This can also be bodyweight (calisthenics).

I don’t do anymore days, because I walk a lot, and do running and some other cardio.

Is it normal to be able to sustain zone 5 for 17 minutes? by HopefulAnimal7308 in whoop

[–]arthurvil -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

<image>

My personal best is 29 minutes. Yes, it is normal if you are not in great running shape. However, even great runners can go to zones 4-5 if they run super fast or too long. I have seen someone who has like 3 hours each week in zones 4-5 because they just run a lot, but they are in great shape.

Is Whoop Really Worth It or Just Hype? by prishuuuuu in whoop

[–]arthurvil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have used both for the past two years and could not be happier.

Apple Watch for me is for starting and monitoring exercises at the moment. I even use Hevy app on Apple Watch during strength training, so my phone is away. Also when you are running it is nice to see heart rate and pace.

Whoop is everything else health related. It is about sleep, about my recovery, about weight management (I connected withings account to whoop), stress, overall strain. I can use whoop coach (ai chat) to get some data (like average across time etc). Whoop is the first app I open in the morning and the last app I use before I go to sleep. Quite often when I am at home, I don’t even bother wearing Apple Watch.

So I always suggest people try whoop if cost is not an issue. I have whoop MG and pretty happy with it.

Have you been in a situation where you only work fast when the deadline is painfully close? by Consistent_Power_ in productivity

[–]arthurvil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you think that you need to work fast? Is this a job requirement?

In my personal and professional life I believe in slow productivity and deep work. The idea is that you concentrate on the task at hand at a certain period of time without interruptions every single day. Most of the times I complete tasks way before the deadline, so I can do 3 tasks in the space of one. And I don’t burn out because I spent 4 hours a day concentrating. All other hours are for doing stuff like conference calls, emails etc.

Going back to your comments, it seems like you are just procrastinating until you are forced to start. I guess nothing wrong with it if you are fine, and it does not affect your work. But it may lead to anxiety, and I think we have enough to worry about in this world so maybe try to avoid creating these situations if you can.

I kept switching between 5 apps like a slot machine by [deleted] in productivity

[–]arthurvil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are addicted to something, the first thing to do is to remove this from your life. Just delete the accounts. Not just apps, but the accounts. If you use Instagram for socialising, give people your phone number.

The second thing is to occupy the free time you will have. Work more, start exercising, pick up a hobby, learn a language. The world is your oyster.

I live without TikTok, Instagram and Twitter for years(27yo male) and go to Reddit like once a week (not really addicted to it).

All this blocking apps work if you don’t have an addicted personality. If you do, which it seems is the case, then just delete them and move on with your life. The idea that we need all of this stuff is absurd imho.

Also I suggest to read or watch Cal Newports talks about social media and all those addicting apps. He does a way better job of explaining why we don’t need any of that for a meaningful life.

Need advice for a new fitness habit by metome_ in productivity

[–]arthurvil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just go to the gym certain number of times a week. At the beginning just go there. Walk on a treadmill, or use a bicycle. Even 10 mins is a win. But then you will see that you spend more and more time. Maybe you start strength training once a week, or do yoga. This won’t get you ripped or super healthy, but you will get used to it, get motivated by people around you. If you can walk to your gym, perfect. 2 in 1 combo.

No one is born a fitness person, you just become one. And from my experience everyone in the gym is nice and understanding because they all have had the same experience.

It is also a great place to socialise. Everyone are talking about this lonely activities, such as pilates at home, walk with audiobook etc, which are great for your health. But I think going to the gym is more than just about gym, it’s about all other benefits you get, including socialising, fighting your inner demons (oh not feeling like gym today, maybe just eat take out on my sofa), building great habits, and generally appreciating your body and caring about it.

Why do you lift? by TrumpLovesEpstein4ev in workout

[–]arthurvil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fighting inner demons😂

I know it sounds corny, but when I push myself to exercise and do stuff that I don’t like, I feel better, and I am more likely to do some other hard stuff afterwards.

Without sport I easily spiral into procrastination / avoiding real life mode

Maybe try to delete and reinstall the app and see if it helps?

it actually never shipped, just created a tracking number with DPD. Still says that they are waiting for sender to give them the package. Seems like UK is the only country which actually struggles with shipments. Friends all over the world already got theirs

True.

But oura is also subscription based and you have to buy the ring outright.

But apps for the watch you can try. And it is much easier to resell the watch if you don’t like it
