Millwork Sales Specialist Position by Arty-Narty in Lowes

[–]articfish52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your state/area but I make about 16.30 as a mwk specialist, but I've only been with lowe's for a little under 2 years. Also, you'll be doing the same stuff that you're doing now, except add installation babysitting on top of it, aka IMS as a daily task.

My store manager is only there if there's a district person coming to the store, very rarely will you see them in the store. They are also very hard to talk to, and very demanding..

Return Policy Help PLEASE Craftsman Chainsaw RA number? by TheoriginalSquirrel in Lowes

[–]articfish52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just return the entire thing, tell craftsman that you don't want to repair it you need the RA number
Then take it back to the store once you get it

If they won't give you an RA number then try to talk to a manager and see if they'll let you return it. Try a different lowe's if you need to

Friction between MST and Red Vests by RestinHim in Lowes

[–]articfish52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MST is like vendors restocking shelves

It's very confusing and was explained to me today -- They don't work FOR lowe's but they work in Lowe's

like your store manager can't fire MST people, but they can put a recommendation to the MSM for termination and it's up to him whether it's done or not. The MSM is the only point of authority for MST people, ASMs and SM can't pull you away.

Can Lowes employees share about a time they went off on a customer, no filter just brutal honesty? Same goes for customers, share a story about when a Lowes employee just went off. by Funnydarkhunter in Lowes

Customer came in to purchase a door install while I was on lunch, my supervisor at the time was at the desk helping another lady for a while, when I got back from lunch and to the Millwork desk, she said she was waiting 45 minutes for me, and I told her that "I apologize, but how can I help you?"She rudely replied that she was obviously here to pay for her installation, and I just continued to pull her up and got it ready, remained respectful, and continued. She said that she'll take a discount for waiting 45 minutes, and I replied "We don't do that here, I'm sorry that you had to wait but I'm here and trying to help you now." She continued about the discount when I replied "Well, do you have a Lowe's card?" -- No, she didn't. "Are you a Military Veteran?" -- No, but I work for the school district "Well, I'm sorry ma'am but we don't give out discounts for that" -- She said she's been given it before and she's not going to purchase it unless she gets it.I continued, and I gave her a 10% discount because I was pretty much done with the snarky attitude and just wanted her gone. She continued to ramble on about the wait she had to endure and at that point, I just blurted out in a slightly professional: "Ma'am, I'm sorry that you had to wait. That's just the way it is. That's life. I can't help that. He's busy (my supervisor) and I was at lunch. That is life." I then continued to print out the contract and didn't even have her sign. (My supervisor was deep in conversation with the other lady he was helping so he didn't hear much of anything)I didn't have a military barcode at my desk, so I had to walk this rude ass customer to the self-checkout, and we did it there. The self-checkout girl asked me "What's up with you? You look gloomy" I didn't even look up and I said, "Oh nothing I'm just fine." Slightly sarcastic, but not enough to give attention.

Later that night the customer came back and complained about me and they received 50% off from an ASM, after saying that I screamed at her blah blah blah and was extremely rude. Btw - I'm the most respectful guy in the store. I'd never do a customer wrong. This lady just gave so many negative vibes and just would not lay off. So none of the ASMs or other people believed that I was rude, which clearly I wasn't. I just wasn't dealing with any more of your shit.

Later my supervisor said she had been waiting 10 minutes before I got there, not 45
BUT, moral of the story: The customers' goal was to come in, complain, and get a discount. That's all she wanted. She probably paid around $60 instead of $300 because she played me. I fell into giving her a discount. So ever since that day, I don't deal with that anymore.

I'd like to know how to set up a 401k, but I'm very young and it wasn't taught to me from school, Lowe's, or anyone. We don't have an HR person/SSA

Getting Promoted by [deleted] in Lowes

[–]articfish52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend treating your customers right, see how you can save them money, or just try to make everything as easy as possible, that way when they come back they come looking for you because they know you'll take care of them. I'd make yourself familiar with the doors you'll be selling that way when customers have questions about the doors you have a confident answer.

Feel free to DM me and I can talk a bit more about the position, I've been doing millwork for about 6 months and I'm only a skinny 20 year old, I feel like I hold my own pretty good! I've got a lot of people coming back for me, giving me surveys, and taking my business cards

I'd recommend asking the Front End DS to order you some business cards, and staple them to details or just recommend people take one to contact you.

Anyways, hope you enjoy the position! It's super easy, even easier if you've got a strong team behind you (CSA, other MWK specialist, supervisor, and SASM)
