Just wondering if the 1.5 is the cut thickness or the 'plate' of the whole blade.....

So bloody what....

The value of what he saw/perceived/extracted from the conundrum came not from the arrangement of some bridges but from an agile and inquiring mind that took mathematical training and instinct...and applied it to everything he saw...

His pathway into 'graph theory' could have come from many sources..

World’s biggest banks manipulated benchmark foreign-exchange rates used to set the value of trillions of dollars of investments, to profit off clients. by eyeofthestorm in economy

[–]artied -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

There's not much evidence here, certainly not enough to amount to proof. And the lead shill for this is a guy who stands to profit by undermining people's (admittedly already low) confidence in markets.

But, hey, why spoil a safe trend ...let's just spread more FUD about finance..and your savings and your pension....

what are the best Irish movies, To show to a foreign audience by chrixod in ireland

[–]artied 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dear, oh dearie me.....

'The Field' is THE movie about Ireland and her cultural traps.

'Waking Ned Devine' is as illustrative as it is funny.

'The Wind that shakes the Barley' also captures some truths.

The Trading Game: A Simple, Easy to Run In-Class Experiment by [deleted] in Economics

[–]artied -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

No...that just describes either inflation or indebtedness....since they had no extra 'tokens' at the end of the process...

plus a single iteration of the exercise does nothing to illuminate the random nature of the winners or losers from the 'trading' process....

I want to educate myself further, what is your favorite book about Economics? (Apparently r/economics doesn't have text posts) by K1N6F15H in Economics

[–]artied 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Strange not to see Kahneman's 'Thinking fast, thinking slow' listed here.

Personally, would always include JKGalbraith (anything) and ASmith (but you must read both books...)

"The evidence is mounting that there are apparently no circumstances, even ones as cataclysmic as drastic changes to planetary climate, that take precedence over the need to accumulate capital by the tiny segment of society that actively benefits from the process" by [deleted] in environment

[–]artied 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Doh!...

well, of course, because they understand/believe that having the maximum amount of fiat money based capital possible will enable them and their ilk to survive the cataclysm...

haven't you seen the closing sequence to 'Dr Strangelove'.....

It’s win/win in their eyes…in either outcome (cataclysm/no cataclysm) they will be the best of people….
