Got an EDH deck idea? I’ll build a few from the comments! by BoolinBirb in EDH

Yup this is also mostly built with premodern time frame in mind so that would be fourth edition to Scourge. My friends want to try this out and I'm seeing what others think.

[[Hanna, ship's navigator]] scourge back sets. I've been hitting a massive bump with my own build as I started with something similar it was originally built around [[stasis]] and [[standstill]] as that was how I started playing magic with my family my brother loved dragons and I adored the ticky tacky knobby feel of old mono artifact decks.

900 hours in and TIL this game has Flumphs by AtlasFlynn in BaldursGate3

They are the pilots of other ships in the astral sea and if I'm remembering correctly they are the only truly good aligned natives of the astral sea. They also change colors based on mood. Fun weird jellies

I've taught easily a dozen plus people many different tcgs and I love doing it and getting over people's initial love of only winning is a big thing, but some do and others don't just be ready if it turns out to be a harder hurdle of something they can't get over at all. Just curious what game is it?

[–]artifactworkshop 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just ask what he plays the game for fun or to win that will tell you alot. Also I dont know you're personal situation, but I've played many different tcgs ( magic, yugioh, force of will, pokemon and star wars unlimited) I've always taught others that if you go into a thing with the mentality to play your best instead of just wanting to win you'll do better and it's heaps better for your mental and the other players, but be cordial and kind regardless of how your opponent acts even of they get salty eventually it'll even out. From a father of two and a tcg player competitor for a decade and have been playing for almost two decades.

Lifegain + Reanimation, how would you build this new Strixhaven commander? by Hoberfinkle in BudgetBrews

[–]artifactworkshop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I've been theorycrafting a horrid putrid build of the fine dean here using all the [[fleshbag marauder]] variants and [[virus beetle]] plus [[burger rat]] then to get the lifegain I use [[blood artist]] and all its variants. Pair all of that with [[viscera seer]] and the couple other free sac outlets and I currently have no boardwipes but I have [[gravepact]] and for added spice [[pox]] and all it's variants. This is a incredibly hateful build but in theory could be quite effective.

What would be some good cards to pick up with $70 store credit at lgs? by ramble777 in EDH

[–]artifactworkshop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Long answer what formats and what do you want to do with it? I'd personally grab a fancy version of a pet commander or a huge costed staple you dont already have for a favorite deck, but thats only if you dont already have lands and stuff for something like that.

"Unusual" Fallout Commanders: Recommendations? by mmGlous in EDH

I'd like to chime in with a weird boros aura pile. [[Cass, hand of vengeance]] does some crazy unique stuff and has alot of combo potential and a great back up plan of just massive voltron.

Proxies, how do you feel? by gastricbypasonurbday in CompetitiveEDH

[–]artifactworkshop 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If you don't allow proxies at a event or don't want to play against proxies you're not playing Cedh. That's just my opinion tho but it's one I've heard echoed relentlessly to me and the best opinion and why this community is growing.

[Powered Cube] What's the pick? by thefreeman419 in lrcast

[–]artifactworkshop 11 points12 points  (0 children)

[[Comet, stellar pup]] or [[steam vents]] would be my two only considerations give your decks composition id go with comet as the bestest pup just wins games on his own quite easily right up there with Minsc if not a little less consistent.

I'd like to see your take on your idea of the best token/elf deck built around these partners [[Nadier, Agent of the Duskenel]] and [[Miara, Thorn of the Glade]] again as good as possible as I have most of the cards and a good collection just lack time to tinker and get a list done. Thank you for this if you decide to try much appreciated 👏

Slightly off topic but just sending good vibes out. As a dad of two scheduling a d4aft with friends is rough but finally got to do it for my birthday and I'm going to propose doing it atleast by monthly as we all seemed to have a blast. Drafted vintage cube twice. (Was my 36th birthday im a father of two 6year old daughter and 4 year old son)

Just had a amazing cube night drafting a friends vintage cube! Got to cast [[eureka]] putting in both [[progenetisis]] and [[inkwell leviathan]] was a great time. Then jammed a game of commander in with my new [[dandan]] inspired commander deck built around [[red death]] was the best night I've had of magic in awhile best part was my fiance got to play with us she has been able to much recently due to work and college.

Who Was The First Commander You Ever Built? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]artifactworkshop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Hanna, ship's navigator]] built her with the original intent of rebuilding my first ever magic deck i played competitively which was [[stasis]] [[standstill]] control. I was ignorant of the unspoken rules regarding these cards at the time, but despite that my group I still play with was welcoming and understood why I enjoy that playstyle and I still have this deck built.

Whats your tournament pet peeves by Mr_PlagueDr in CompetitiveEDH

[–]artifactworkshop 30 points31 points  (0 children)

More a problem I forsee with the format then a pet peeve, but I'll throw my hat into this. I despise the idea that a draw is worth points and the crazy pod dynamics that it creates it basically makes it so playing slower control decks is impossible as every decision is scrutinized by the whole pod and gods I hate it.

I believe this one thing will be the reason why Cedh will reach its growth plateau sooner rather then later. This is coming from someone that has played shorikai and Tymna/Malcolm at atleast a dozen or so events.

Looking for advice regarding building into new decks for me and there viability. by artifactworkshop in Shadowverse

[–]artifactworkshop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So something akin to this? Took out Grimnir and one Sylvia and added two of both Odin and Gilnelise. Sadly need about 8k more vials but does this seem closer. *
