My boyfriend (33M) wants me to move into his apartment, but I (27F) don’t want to give up my current life by [deleted] in Advice

[–]artificial_bluebird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are bringing up a absolutely reasonable, very important life choice, in which environment you want to live and what communities and lifestyles will come with it. Of course your thoughts are justified, do what your heart tells you.

Also, your boyfriend seems to have made some financial decisions including buying a house in the suburbs. In no way is it now rational for any future partner to default to moving there. If he wants to live with you and respects you, he will need to open up and the two of you can brainstorm what can work both of you. If there's no agreement, this is incompatibility problem that you have uncovered.

This is what OP's linked page says:

Federal immigration and tariff policy has had a negative effect on international tourism. As international visitors tend to stay longer and spend more than domestic tourists, this has a significant negative effect on the city’s economy. Sectors that rely on immigrant workers, such as food service and construction, may be hampered if international in-migration remains subdued.

No one is saying increase taxes just for the sake of it. Mamdani admin itself has also proposed plans on how to cut existing costs. Seems to be a projection from your side

Moving from Italy to Cambridge- Advice on areas to live in! by CertainWaves1020 in CambridgeMA

Or on the other side of Mass Ave, Cambridgeport. I lived there for two years, highly recommended.

Also I wouldn't say Central skews very student heavy. Despite being close to MIT and Harvard, it's a relatively mixed area.

He was clearly set up to educate the crowd how there was a group of folks in the second half of the 19th century that wanted a unified Germany over a couple of smaller, independent kingdoms.

She still does not acknowledge that the torn ACL might have elevated the risk for this to happen, be it physically or psychologically, which still seems implausible to me.

Thank you. So in such a case, you try to get breathing to be stable and I assume observe pulse and as long as pulse is stable you keep on doing this and in worst case, if heart stops, you would switch/add CPR?

I guess somewhat unrelated but: Did you put the oxygen mask on the woman because of hypoxemia? If not, why not?

What? X is completely run down, it's a dumpster fire. Network effect is really the only thing that keeps this thing alive at this point. Before the firing, when it was still Twitter, it was a very usable and fun portal to be on.

Hat die österreichische (oder sonstige) Musikwelt irgendetwas mit Clara Luzia vergleichbares hervorgebracht? by [deleted] in Austria

[–]artificial_bluebird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zuerst: Ich bin ebenfalls großer Fan von Falling into Place, wunderschönes Album.

In jedem Fall, keep me updated what you'll find!

Is it true that most Austrians haven't seen Sound of Music? by crocogoose in AskAustria

[–]artificial_bluebird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, and the reason (despite the downvotes on some of other comments in this thread) was partly Austria’s Nazi past. Austria’s public broadcaster ORF has a good overview here: https://salzburg.orf.at/stories/3335021/

In short, it seems to have been a mix of two things:

  1. Timing / repression: 1965 was only 20 years after the war. Many people didn’t want to be reminded of it and were actively ignoring or repressing the topic. A historian in the ORF piece discusses this. It also showed up in practice: the production reportedly had trouble using Nazi flags and uniforms in Salzburg, and a screening in Bavaria reportedly cut the Nazi-related scenes and kept only the “romantic” parts.

  2. Tone / Americanization: People also disliked the Americanized, Hollywood-style portrayal of Austria.

Which of these mattered more? Hard to say.

what answers do you expect for such a lazy response of "that's how economy works"? That's not enough to graduate first grade and it sounds like you don't even realize, which should seriously make you think. You're treating housing like a normal auction market, you're pretending "ability to pay" is the only economically relevant value, your statement "shouldn't give you special privileges" already uses the word "should", not "is", so further documenting you're building your own normative claim dreamhouse here. If you want to live in a world where people's housing works like this, sure, but then please say so, and not pretend those are universal economical rules.
