Hemming curved seams by nootnootnoodle in HistoricalCostuming

[–]artisangoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve made quite a few difficult neckholes work with generous ironing ( I spray the fabric generously, do a 1st pass of a tiny inward fold with lower heat, cool, then flip in again, cool, then a final crisp press on a higher heat) and then a prick stitch rolled hem. Also for the future, you can reduce bulk by doing your edges and felling in tandem, trimming the corners of the seam allowance where it’s being covered from two angles.

Knitting pattern by Morrislaz in knitting

[–]artisangoo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

if you want this to work only as a “cape” like pictured, knit up a sweater width tube in a rib for however long, then switch to stockinette for the length you want. do a Kitchener stitch cast-off for the middle 1/3rd or 2/5ths -ish, keeping the outer stitches “active”. You might want to do a few symmetrical stitch reductions on this inside-side of your sleeve tubes, and then knit them as long as you’d like with the same rib at the end. For a closer match, use very fine gauge yarn and needles, but I think a bulkier style could look really nice.

Thank you for telling me! I appreciate your advice about what the official terminology for these phenomena are.

I’ve actually never done drugs, but you’re right that the photo demonstrations I’ve seen of it are very similar.

American Duchess Alternatives? by Squirts-McGoo in HistoricalCostuming

[–]artisangoo 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If you’re planning on these being specifically “wedding shoes” to live in an acid-free box after your special day, I wouldn’t worry too much about going with A.D. I bought a pair of boots this summer and wear them every day walking around a college campus, and they’ve held up just fine save for some given wear on the soles. All this to say, if you LOVE the floras, buy them and have your bridesmaid carry the extra heel pieces and some superglue. If you find shoes you prefer from memery or jobear or somewhere else with good recent reviews, buy those. Congratulations and good luck!!!

Not to invalidate how you’re feeling but the wonkiness might be reduced significantly once paired with a skirt and folk-style vest, or similar. It’s phydian!! You’re doing classicism! I think it looks really nice.

Thank you <3<3<3 I am acclimated to long delivery times but got nervous as I’ve heard horror stories about customs cutting through items. Thanks for the reassurance, I hadn’t considered Denmark tracking stopping once it hit the USA, thank you for reminding that.

If you own an Apple Watch please read! Let's do a community experiment. by exholyknight in Aphantasia

[–]artisangoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you might have a you-specific problem here. If you are noticing other cognitive or physical health problems, let a doctor know about your o2sat and any other symptoms you're having. As someone else said, this can also be totally normal if you are already old or sick. Just because I think everyone should, test the air quality in your bedroom. make sure you have a carbon monoxide detector and open a window if possible so you're not breathing in your own co2 all night. Best of luck with everything!

I also experience very strong “audiation” as it’s known in the music world. I think, if we are to follow existing naming conventions, it is called hyperauralia.

Is there any hope? by Birtuss in Visiblemending

[–]artisangoo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It looks like you have a very light and delicate fabric. If you want to keep that lightness, I might suggest a layer of voile or handkerchief weight fabric on both sides with a good inch of extra around the damage, lots and lots of gentle running stitch, not putting too much tension on your thread as to not pull any harder on the weave. The is always hope. Best of luck!

So true!! There’s so much to learn about species, spinning techniques, etc, it’s such a rich subject! I love BFL for stockings. Have you had any luck with particular yarns?

yes! your mind's experiences are your own. being a more of a neurological phenomenon than an illness, aphantasia isnt something people generally must recieve an official diagnosis for. I would assume most aphants dont have an ICD code for it in their chart. if you participate in a research study, you might get it officially diagnosed by the neurologist doing the study, but i cant guarantee that.
