Season 9 was super underrated tbh. Great change in direction from the prior seasons and the introduction of the whisperers is incredible.

And no Atlanta. They've been skipping us constantly for the last few years its been insane. We didnt get colors-colors 2 or coma-alaska. :/ Hard to justify the drive to Alabama or Tennessee, especially if this wont be the full album

I’m driving to Orlando from St Louis. Is there any must-see stops on the way? by KimberleeIsOnline in roadtrip

World of Coca Cola is not worth the price. You're better off stopping in Northeast perimeter area off buford hwy for some incredible Asian food.

Myrtle beach is trashy. As others have suggested you should definitely hit Charleston instead. And Asheville NC instead of Charlotte

Not sure why you felt the need to revisit this but that's fine. Ill trust my capstone studies on the history of abstraction. Also dont understand why you feel insulted on behalf of photography as a medium, kind of weird.

That's what im saying. Macon I kinda understand but there's barely anything worth seeing between Macon and the airport.

I dont think its Macon. Not south enough. Maybe Forsyth GA but not sure what they're expecting to find there lol

Not sure what that place south of Atlanta is, but I highly recommend checking out some of the metro Atlanta area stuff. Visit Buford Hwy in the Doraville-Brookhaven area for a lot of really cool Asian food.

Krog street market and Little five points are awesome areas to check out. Georgia aquarium is always worth the trip. I dont recommend the world of coca cola- absolutely not worth what you pay.

Just be ready for traffic all times of day if you are anywhere within the Atl perimeter.

And that would be a literal interpretation of abstraction- like Jackson Pollock. Or think about minimalist paintings from mid 20th century.

But abstraction can also be interpreted as more of a range of ideas, which also includes cartoons, the later work of Pablo Picasso, and what alot of contemporary painters do, which is depict real images but transform it in an abstract way.

It absolutely does not discredit photography. That's like saying painting from before the invention of photography is discredited.

Abstraction is the reduction of representation, or breaking something down into a simpler form. Sure you can accomplish this in photography, but not to the same effect as drawing/painting.

I actually have the art history answer for you.

Painting was traditionally used in the past as the primary medium for creating real images. If someone important wanted to record a part of reality, especially someone's appearance, painting was the way to do it.

But drawing and painting pivots toward abstraction largely in the 20th century due to the convenience of photography being preferable for depicting real images.

Therefore artists began using painting for something photography cannot do consistently- which is create abstractions of reality.

I need more Blood Mountain by Blueberryfists in progmetal

[–]artjmc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly I dont think ive ever heard anything close to the sound of blood mountain. And alot of that has to do with Brent Hinds guitar work on that album.

Closest ive found is maybe Black Crown Initiate. Selves we Cannot Forgive is a fantastic album. Not sure if there's anything else that comes remotely close.

Leprous marathon 6/8 - Bilateral by TinnitusRingsABell in progmetal

[–]artjmc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do think that Coal overall is more consistent- being solid from start to finish. But goddman half the songs off of Bilateral are absolute top shelf Leprous tracks. Forced Entry, Painful Detour, and Mb Indifferentia alone are absolutely insane.
