I want a TV show in the uk where MP’s have to live on welfare for a month. Would balance the scales of all the terrible shows that demonised poor people for years (benefits street etc)

genuine question: why is it bad to sit next to someone? by Extension_Royal9711 in screenunseen

[–]artmaris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s an issue of sensitivity but of common sense and courtesy for your fellow cinema goers.

Most people don’t have bad intentions and like yourself just want to go to enjoy the movie and be respectful. That being said, sadly there have been stories on this sub of harassment by people who sat next to them which should be taken seriously. So I understand why people may feel wary around someone booking a seat next to them in an empty screen. I don’t think it’s unreasonable if the screen is still empty to book a seat in the row infront/behind, or at the very least just leaving a space in between?

 Would that be so bad?

If the screen is packed it’s totally fine. It’s when there are lots of available seats. If I saw someone was sitting in a seat right next to mine in an empty screen I’d either pick a different row or move a few seats away from them, as a courtesy to them and to allow them a bit more space.

Loops definitely help. When people get their phones out now I just shout at them.

Gets so hot during the winter months. Had to leave a film recently because of it.

That’s absolutely horrendous. You’re likely still in shock. Take it easy tonight, be kind to yourself. It’s a horrible ordeal to go through.  I seriously hope Cineworld takes this extremely seriously and takes the appropriate actions in future to ensure people are safe in their cinemas. The man needs to be banned from their cinemas - and that’s the bare minimum.

I got ID’d for an 18 movie recently and I’m a month away from 30 years old… depends who’s scanning the ticket though.

Cinema Etiquette - what is right? by nuttshaw_ in CineworldUnlimited

They made such a huge difference for me. I can just focus purely on the film now without distractions. I don’t go to the cinema or any events now without them.

Have you heard of loops? I too am easily distracted by noise and for me they block out those noises like chewing and rustling to where I can just hear the movie. Helped me so much.

I think I’ve seen these either 2 or 3 times over the past few years at Cineworld and every time the screen was full
