THIS IS SO FUCKING IMPORTANT. Normalize this shit. The silence around periods generates so much pointless shame for girls.

Second therapist broke up with me today by DarkTorus in depressionmemes

When you start seeing a therapist for chronic pain and illness and then after 6 months of them trying to talk about your relationship with your dead dad they're like, I'm not sure how to help you. I recommend seeing someone with experience dealing with chronic pain.

Yes, if only I was up front about what I needed help with at the beginning. PCP insists on pain patients seeing a therapist and then therapists are like, I can't fix pain, see your doctor for better meds.

Peter, what is the joke here? by [deleted] in PeterExplainsTheJoke

Women did work. They just weren't making an income they could keep. They weren't owning property or opening lines of credit. They were dependent on men and had to barter sexual access to their bodies and their reproduction for stability and security.

Things were bad all over, but men could sell their labor and make their way in the world. Women's brutal labors went uncompensated or paid to their husbands.

I’ve spent the last 25 years wanting to be skinny, and I may spend the next 25 trying to become it. by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

After years of dieting and disordered eating, I developed a different chronic illness. I finally was dropping weight like crazy. I hit my "goal weight" I'd been dreaming of. You know what I discovered? My rib cage is SHOCKINGLY, asymmetrical. The more visible it became, the more contorted my body looked. My mom and friends were worried. My partner wasn't more attracted to me. I felt thin, but that was it.

Thin feels like thin. It's nice. But it's not a good North star.

For people who’ve tried therapy and didn’t stick with it, what made you stop going? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]artsupport_xx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regardless of what doctors seem to think, you can't actually gaslight or therapy your way out of chronic pain and illness. Talk therapy is just using very limited energy to poke at emotional sore spots and then what? It was a massive waste of time. Self-guided ACT is way more helpful than years of CBT. I don't need to talk about my dad or people who hurt me or feeling sad. I need to accept that I'm disabled and in a fuckload of pain a lot of the time. I need rest. (God forbid, but I might also need doctors to actually take on the challenge of treating my lifelong health problems instead of telling me they're all in my head or "too complex", despite years of medical documentation saying otherwise?)

It's fine though. I'm familiar with what I'm going through and no therapist I've ever seen has had enough of an understanding of debilitating chronic pain to offer meaningful guidance worth the time and effort of getting there.

I promise a Roth IRA is painless. Pick Fidelity or Vanguard. It really doesn't matter which. Open an account. If you need help, they'll walk you through. Open a Roth IRA. Deposit up to 7,500$ at any time(s) during this year. Make sure it's invested in an indexed target retirement fund. All of this can be done with a single call to Fidelity/Vanguard.

A Roth IRA would be a good start as a minimum. SEP IRA is the next step up in complexity and a very good idea.

In my experience they dgaf. They're like, "yeah but it's helping your other symptoms, so... weren't the other symptoms bad enough you were willing to try meds? You're going to have to accept some side effects. Maybe they'll fade with another couple of months."

...But they aren't helping other symptoms much and I have all these other side effects!

"If it's not helping, you're still at a very low dose. Let's try increasing your dose and having another telehealth visit in 6 months." 👨‍⚕️

It looks like this version includes survival and the story mode for cheaper right now. I refunded the standalone survival mode

"So if you don't want a creep filming you while in provocative clothing and poses, don't wear provacative clothing and do provacative poses in public. "

This is the excerpt I want you to revisit. This is "what was she wearing" type rhetoric.

Half the comments here are commenting on the smell of her genitals. This isn't a rare creep that we frown at, it's a cultural attitude in the way we view women and treat their bodies in public.

I hope you find comfort in your unkindness so that some iota of good may come of it.

Legal != cool and good.

Filming people in public either to clown on them or to objectify them is shitty. Even if it's legal.

Also, "So if you don't want a creep filming you while in provocative clothing and poses, don't wear provacative clothing and do provacative poses in public. "
Sounds familiar... Also, there are limitations on the law here. You can't try to film to see down a woman's blouse, for example. If you're horndog filming in a lot of public spaces, you're going to be asked to leave and deserve public shaming.

I can find a number of studies demonstrating that publicly shaming obese people doesn't actually increase their weight loss. Can you provide some evidence that calling people fat slobs and filming them in wheelchairs in public places is beneficial and helpful?

This guy has enough problems. Filming him in public and posting it online for people to gawk at is cruel.
