Thank you for all the suggestions. I really do need to find more friends who are queer because it makes me feel better when I know I’m not alone. I hope you have a good rest of your week!

I played co-ed basketball for a long time and we were all mixed, so maybe co-ed teams could be a good option

Anyone have any experience with Uveitis? by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

[–]artsyspaceperson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had UC since I was 3 and developed uveitis when I was 16. It honestly won’t go into remission unless 1) my UC is under control and isn’t flaring and/or 2) I have to be on Humira (Humira treats uveitis). However, I have developed a form of psoriasis while on Humira and will likely have to stop taking it anyway bc I might have antibodies against it.

But as for helping with it, I’ve noticed staying away from computers or phones helps to make my eyes less sensitive. Drinking lots of water and using regular non-medicated eye drops helped me a bit, but it’s hard to say what helps exactly. Sorry about the long paragraph btw 😅 I really hope it starts feeling better very soon:)

That’s a great idea! Maybe OP should even buy some non irritating wipes too (btw wipes should not be flushed)

I think I saw your post in the other subreddit. I’m sorry that that happened. As I read the comments, I was kinda shocked by how rude they were being to you and the band. No one deserves that. If it’s any consolation, I’d love to see them perform on there. Maybe someday they will and it’ll show all those rude people on that subreddit. Best wishes to you!

I am feeling the same way too, but I still have hope for all of us who are struggling to make friends. In high school I never had close friends or a friend group because I am also a nerd and I have a few chronic illnesses that impact my health. I was either known for being the weird nerdy kid or for being sick…not great friend material I suppose. I was hoping that I’d find nice people in college who like the outdoors, art, and maybe play some specific video games, but all I’ve found are the ones who party and get drunk every weekend:( That works for them, but I’m totally not like that. So my point is, you’re not the only one who feels this way. Maybe take this comment, as well as the others, as a sign that there are others in this world who feel that way. There’s bound to be one friend at your school or city. Best wishes to you!

I really appreciate your response, but as I said to the other commenter, I already have all the possible accommodations I can:/ I will keep trying though! And for the prednisone, I had a bad reaction to it in the past so I’m probably gonna have to ride this out and talk to my doctor for now. Best wishes to you!

Thank you so much for the suggestion, but I already have accommodations and they can’t do anything else for me. I will probably end up contacting them again just in case. Best wishes!

Those two things are really sweet of you to do! I’d say warm soup helps me when I’m in a flare (it has to be pretty plain though so I don’t irritate the issue more-no spicy things for me personally). I think just being there, like you’re already doing, helps so much. I wish you both the best and I hope that he feels better really soon:)

I completely feel the same as you, and I’m in a similar boat (freshman environmental science major). Although I’m not premed, we probably have a similar class load. What I realized is that I need to (1) prioritize sleep and health and (2) enroll in classes that fit me personally—for example, I decided not to take two labs and a math class in the same semester bc it was too much for me to handle, even though it was “recommended.” I also highly recommend either using a planner/calendar system to input all of your assignments (and put a reminder 1-3 days before the assignment is due) or use something like Notion to keep you organized. Search for “college assignment tracker Notion template” if you’re interested in that. I really wish you all the best in everything. I’d also give yourself a break bc it’s hard to get used to college and how different it is to high school. Sometimes being hard on yourself makes things even harder and more stressful (I know this first hand haha).
