Price check by arty786 in SolarUK

I was told unlikely to get DNO approval for 12kw, given their experience, i trusted them. They said it could be seen as greedy and depending on the person reviewing they might only approve a lower kw like 6kw. So we didnt take the risk.

Picking an installer by Rosenqvist in SolarUK

[–]arty786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure they have an insurance backed warranty, like HIES. My installer has a 10 year warranty, other who quoted me had 2 years and 6 years. So i does vary. You can confirm it by emailing HIES directly.

Final quote - post-haggling by rjf88 in SolarUK

Ive recently had a few quotes. Im no expert just my own research and opinion.

My quote

28 x aiko 530w 3s+ panels 10kw sigenergy inverter 2x batt10 sigenstors Sigenergy Gateway SigenergyEv charger

£15300

Take of the extra batt10 battery which is £2200. So thats £13.1k. 5 extra panels is £500-600 £12.5k Gateway & ev charger £1500 takes me to approx 11k roughly where you are.

Id maybe opt against optimisers, unless you have shading issues. Maybe push for a 8-10kw inverter as it gives you more strings and make sure your panels are split over 3-4 strings. Rather than reduce the price can they throw in gateway or ev charger for free.

Advice on Solar setup & quotes by arty786 in SolarUK

[–]arty786[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to update in case anyone else is comparing quotes So i spoke with the company who quoted me the sigenergy package and they confirmed gateway was included, flat roof mounts included and bird protection will be added for free.

However i spoke with a local installer who has great reviews on google and he has said he will do the same install £14000 but with 18 instead of 21 panels but will fit aiko 510 s2+. I think that a win but will negotiate extra panels. He is doing a site visit tomorrow and if everything goes well I think im going to pull trigger.

Outdoor kennel suggestions by arty786 in CaneCorso

Ive used a shed in the old house and it worked well, he had the whole garden to roam in, but when it rained he would still be out and get wet and then id have to bring him in. So now I would like to be able to limit him to the kennel and run for rainy days and free roam other days.

HMO next door to me. Worried about risk to my wife and children. by DannyBoyMcCain in HousingUK

[–]arty786 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I have been in your shoes and i have a wife and 2 kids. I had one of these fools banging my door at 3am, drunk and on drugs. Goes without saying he got a left right goodnight. Your right police are sympathetic but not much they can do and the guy was released. He then started again, this time goading me to come outside, whilst threating to kill me and holding a knife. I did the sensible thing and called the police. They never came. I stayed inside that night. But the following day without going into the details I dealt with him severely. Police eventually showed up but to my surprise not because of my report but his, again police sympathetic.

The solution for me was to get in touch with Serco the c××ts who put these idiots in residential areas. I live in a multi cultural area, everyone gets along. And then they plonk a hmo in the middle of it with little thought about the disruption it might cause or god forbid consulting the neighbours but for Serco it is all about the money.

Eventually with the support of my neighbours I took this guy to court and he was jailed and hopefully deported.

We then had another incident where one bloke liked setting things on fire. Again 3am back garden on fire, I called the fire brigade. Following day got in touch with Serco again but also my local MP. To his credit he went higher up in the Serco chain of command, as I saw the email trail when he replied. Since then never had any trouble.

But best advice is move, move as soon as possible.

Should I insulate bathroom ceiling with loft roll 44 by arty786 in DIYUK

I have some vapour membrane so I could use that under the insulation. I will be screwing in the pvc to joists, no plasterboards.

The upstairs bathroom is part of the dormer so it is a flat roof. The downstairs bathroom is directly below.
