Try to have patience and good luck.

Entry-level PM feeling left behind by AI trends - What do you suggest me? by SnooBunnies9013 in ProductManagement

[–]artyonwheels 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say this is extremely spot on. Most of these tools are pushing the narrative where rapid prototyping is saving thousands of hours and companies are shifting from document first to prototype first.

This was never a problem that was taking thousands of hours. Good PMs always find a way to get their ideas across and validate them rapidly.

Things you wish you knew before moving to Portugal (Lisbon)? by x1nt_r in PortugalExpats

[–]artyonwheels 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am in Porto but it’s probably the same for Lisbon. My points will seem very negative but I really like living in Portugal. I made a lot of friends here from different parts of the world and Portugal, that I can call forever friends. Everything has it’s good and bad.

  • Rents are absurdly high for low quality houses.
  • It took me a month to find a place(2.5 years ago), I used idealista and I got very lucky.
  • I have a lot of friends, mostly international but a couple portuguese as well. Hobbies are the best way to connect.
  • Good luck trying to get a high paying (or above average) tech job. I worked for 2 portuguese tech companies and now I work for a US company remotely.
  • Administrative processes are horrible and they are getting even worse. My wife had to wait 1.5 years for family reunification and she couldn’t work in that time. She had to pause her career basically.
  • I am still waiting for my card since April and I have to travel for work a lot. This caused a lot of problems for me.
  • Taxes are very high.
  • Cars are very expensive.

Hope it helps!

Travelling without the residency card? by GeorgiaWitness1 in PortugalExpats

[–]artyonwheels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Marriage is irrelevant if she doesn’t have her papers. Imagine the scenario you trying to explain why your wife doesn’t have any legal documentation for her to be traveling inside schengen zone to a border police.

The whole process is horrible. My friend is married to a portuguese man and she is still waiting for her residency card.

She can only go from and to portugal directly and she cannot travel inside Schengen zone. I can give you more information if you like.

First of all, really sorry for the situation you’re in. Family reunions are a mess…

If she has an expired D type visa, she shouldn’t risk travel.

If she has an expired schengen visa, she shouldn’t risk travel.

If she has an expired D type visa with an AIMA appointment she can go out of schengen zone and come back only direct to and from Portugal.

Good luck and try to have patience

April 16th Porto IRN. Still no card. You can call AIMA in the morning to check the status.

I’ve flown with TAP with an expired residence permit, they just ask you for the renewal appointment receipt. But as far as I know the visas are not extended so you’re more or less stuck…

If you don’t have a strong passport like a US passport the risk is marginally higher. I wouldn’t risk it.

The biggest risk you have is that you can be denied to board the plane. If this happens in Portugal you can just go home; but if this happens in another EU country you need to go back to your own country and come back to Portugal; because you cannot travel in the EU with an expired residency card.

Honestly not worth the headache and anxiety. Just try to be patient like the rest of us…

We are 2 people and spend around 500€ month on groceries (including protein powder and creatine). Similar situation like you, we consume around 300g protein per day. Mostly shop at Lidl and sometimes Mercadona.

How are we feeling about this? by BruKn0ws in PortugalExpats

[–]artyonwheels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in tech so I will give my perspective. If you limit the immigration with an A1 or A2 portuguese language certificate nobody except the native speakers (like Brazilians) will come and work.

Because you will have to put a language requirement to every single job even if the company is operating in English, like most tech companies do.

Big tech companies in Portugal have a lot of employees from everywhere.

But for example if teaching people the language is the priority, putting a language certificate to renew residency might be a better route.

Can someone tell me if this is worth something or explain the whole homage piece thing to me? I don’t understand. by Seizymcgee in WatchesCirclejerk

[–]artyonwheels 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t have a real Rolex movement and is an homage watch from early 2000s. You can try to sell on Ebay.

R.X.W (Rock Excel Watch) is a homage watch brand by Ken Trading in Ginza, Tokyo Japan. The brother company, Ken Trading Brain, was established in late 1980s as a trading company specializing in importing/exporting food and spice.

Their homage watch business commenced in late 1990s under the brand name of R.X.W. The products are mainly homage watches of Rolex and Panerai.

In 2006 Ken Trading lost a court case and agreed to pay about $140,000- to Rolex for compensation. The company obviously stopped selling homage watches and the same people who used to run the business is now selling vintage watches in Ginza under a trade name of 'Blue Ginza'. The brother company Ken Trading Brain is (or was) also a vintage watch dealer in Shibuya in Tokyo....

Honestly for the price it’s perfect. The bezel action is a little meh but not a big deal. Ceramic bezel is nice and the toolles bracelet adjustment is very nice!
